Today, you can define how much the anti-virus gets inside a zip file (up to X times). but if the zip is inside a larger amount of zip's then the anti-virus transfers it like is OK, and it could be malicious (refer to en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zip_bomb for example). I want to be alerted when a file is zipped for more then X times (could be 10 could be 100) and I want to be able to block zip files that are zipped for more then X times. Its a serious threat that isn't dealt by any Security ...

Prelude Initially, I wrote this about Backup Exec, because that's where I ran into this problem. I'm also a SAV & SEP veteran but don't recall seeing this heinous language in their KB articles. So maybe it's a Veritas thing. But, whatever... ...then it occurred to me that while BE may (or may not) be the only Symantec enterprise product to which the symptom applies, the cure is universal. Because it bridges a huge gap between the goals of Symantec Sales, Support, ...

With past problems with other clients, I have opted to hire a "specialist" to install Backup Exec. Over a year later, 4 "successful" backups!!!!! (not in a row) We have given up on Exchange 2007 and MS SQL 2005 backups 6 months ago to see if we can get (what I thought to be simple) a "File" backup from a server to a locally attached SCSI tape library. You would think after 12 full version releases, you would have mastered a file ...
