(re-posting a previously requested item) Require Symantec to provide a boot CD (or instructions on how to create one), so we can boot from this CD and fully scan a machine, without having to load Windows. This can be very useful when attempting to detect or remove a stubborn threat / trojan / virus, especially when the threat can't be removed, even via Windows Safe Mode. Being able to also run this via USB key would be ideal.

The variable for the current user's profile (Documents and Settings...) is currently unavailable when creating file and folder exclusions in Centralized Exception policies. I know that this variable exists, as many programs (Internet Explorer, Firefox et all) use it; It stands to reason that exclusions may need to be made there.

(re-posting previous requested item) We have a large number of remote sites which are connected across low-bandwidth network links to the site where our SEPM resides. It is difficult for us to distribute new maintenance releases and product patches to the machines on these remote sites due to the bandwidth. We use Group Update Provider on these sites to distribute content updates every day. We would like to also be able to use the same method to distribute product updates.

(re-posting previously requested item) In the SEPM console today, it is not possible to rename "My Company" on the clients page. We would like to rename this to our actual company name, by right-clicking and entering the new name.

It would be nice to have a list of known and confirmed bugs that Symantec support knows with a plan to fix it and maybe voting system (like in ideas) that we may vote what should be fixed first. With a bug there should be also ETA for a fix (in what release it will be fixed). Sometimes there is a known problem and even whitepapers available but only for internal use and it would be handy to be able to seek and reference something when calling support (obviously I'm not expecting that some ...

There is no way of telling, just looking at or in the GUI, if the SEP client is 32 or 64 bit.  Not in any of the Help and Support options or sub-options in Troubleshooting such as Versions... I suggest that the default GUI view display a "64 bit SEP client" tag, or something to that effect.  It could shorten a technical support call substantially.

hi, Here is another one. It would be convenient for us to get a display of the number of clients present in their respective groups in the SEPM. regards, Manish

Hi, This is one feature that we may like to have, Where in while deploying the Custom packages on the network, if the machine is OFF, the application can power on that machine with Wake up on LAN feature, using the Network boot option i.e through NIC card and then push the package. Please post if you think its worth a thought. regards, Manish.

(re-posting previous requested item) When we export a SEP client package from the SEPM console "Install Packages" view, the exported package contains old content, which means that once that package is installed, the new SEP client will need to retrieve new content from the SEPM or Liveupdate. We know there is a KB article that explains how to add the latest content to an exported package but we would like to see this happen automatically in the SEPM console ...

(re-posting previously requested item) Wish to be able to lock the end users ability to modify the local AV/AS log retention period for the local SEP client. This will ensure end users can't lower the configured period can cause a situation where a machine is off the network, gets infected, the AV/AS log is purged and then the machine connects to the network, thus meaning the central admin is unaware of the infection.

(re-posting previously requested item) Need more flexibility when configuring paths and filenames for AV/AS scanning exceptions. Allowing use of a wildcard would resolve a large part of this problem.

Today, you can define how much the anti-virus gets inside a zip file (up to X times). but if the zip is inside a larger amount of zip's then the anti-virus transfers it like is OK, and it could be malicious (refer to en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zip_bomb for example). I want to be alerted when a file is zipped for more then X times (could be 10 could be 100) and I want to be able to block zip files that are zipped for more then X times. Its a serious threat that isn't dealt by any Security ...

Together with the settings to choose the number of kept revisions there would e an option where you select the drive\path to store this content. Currently there is no way to store this data in anyplace other than the folder where SEPM were istalled.

On CD2 or which ever, Symantec should provide a WinPE ISO image, with SEP embedded.  Much like the BESR boot CD, just put SEP in there. This would go a long way to assisting with off-line scans, rather than pulling the HDD, and putting it in another PC, risking infection in rare cases. Even sell it as a one-time add-on would be handy too! If you dont provide a WInPE image, how about providing a WinPE validator, that the customer provides to show we already have the media, and ...

The ability to block a user from disabling the "Network Threat Protection". Users are able to right click on the taskbar icon and select "Disable Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition". The ability to lock down this feature from the "Symantec Protection Server" would be much helpful..!!!

I have spoken with several customers who indicate that Symantec's online submission process is more difficult and arduous than that of our competitors. I think we need to re-vamp the process. Suggestion that customers enter their support contract number and have it queried, then the site returns customer information (such as name, address, phone number and the like) and auto-populate into the fields. Suggested changing the page so that information that has already been filled in isn't ...

Downloading the SEP Support Tool from the client GUI of a german SEP client will deliver the englisch version. If you execute the support tool on a german (SEPM) OS you will receive errors like: The Local Security Policy 'Adjust memory quotas for a process' does not list the user(s): LOCAL SERVICE,NETWORK SERVICE But it isn't an error in german it's called LOKALER DIENST, NETZWERKDIENST

Hi, Ï would very much like to see the location-independant settings to be set as the other policies so that i can make the change in one place instead of going through every non-inheritance group. Normally i have alot of groups and all or almost all of them have inheritance unticket. So for me to set a new password for uninstalling the client, i need to do this manually on each and every group in the domain.

Notifications regarding the quarantine options have been removed in SEP 12, and would like to see them added back again- Situation: Client recieves a notification popup down by the systray everytime they log into the machine letting them know there is a item in quarantine, this also requires them to acknowledge the notification. One would think that you would not want the users to recieve these notifications thus prompting them to assume there is something wrong. Current resolution - ...

Virtualization is the new technology, the ability to run many machines on one set of hardware - Ideal is being able to setup 2-5 servers each having there own job to do without the need of having to purchase hardware for each machine. However when it comes to Endpoint scans are defined by policy, and polcies are assigned to groups. For implemenation in a VM enviroment you will need to create a group for each VM image so that you can setup your scans not to run all at the same time. ...
