Mail Security for Exchange will rename attachment is deletes or quarantines to DeletedAttachment.txt or QuarantinedAttachment.txt, respectively. Mail Security 8 for Domino should also follow this formula so people can clearly see the attachment they got was stripped instead of seeing the file name intact and thinking it came through. At this time they have to check the file size and rename it to a .txt file to see the verdict in plain text.

Hello, first of all, thank you Symantec for the Scheduled Scan in the 6.0.9 of SMSMSE for Exchange 2007. Now I'm able to create a scheduled scan on my mailbox servers. You also provided the feature that a administrator can define the scan(what should be applied in the scan). Therefore there is only one thing missing I would appreciate in the "definition of a scan": File-Filter You have implemented the feature to select content rules, but why you dont implemented this feature also ...

Currently in Mail Security for Domino if Premium antispam is enabled it essentialy disables the RBLs in Domino becaues Premium Antispam takes control over the inbound SMTP connections and relays back to Domino on a alternative port. Premium Antispam should include the ablity to add/use RBLs or alter the workings of PAS to allow Domino's RBLs to work.

It would be nice to have the content filter be able to block foreign addresses and the ability to chose what countries to block

Presently in Symantec Mail Secuirty for Domino there is a whitelist that is only used for the antispam features. Many expect adding a domain to the whitelist will prevent it from having content filtering rules applied, this is not the case. The content filtering rule must have its own exceptions added to it using the conditional option on the basics tab of the rule. My idea: Add a checkbox to the rule that would allow domains in the whitelist to bypass the rule. This would simplifiy ...

As the Java Cryptography Extension (JCE) is a requirement for the use of Java LiveUpdate on SMSdom 8.0 system requirements the installation of a) SMSDom or b) Java LiveUpdate should check for the JCE and a) install the JCE b) stop installation with error stating that a the requirement has not been met. Presently there is no check for the JCE and if Java LiveUpdate is installed with out the JCE Java LiveUpdate will fail.

Prelude Initially, I wrote this about Backup Exec, because that's where I ran into this problem. I'm also a SAV & SEP veteran but don't recall seeing this heinous language in their KB articles. So maybe it's a Veritas thing. But, whatever... ...then it occurred to me that while BE may (or may not) be the only Symantec enterprise product to which the symptom applies, the cure is universal. Because it bridges a huge gap between the goals of Symantec Sales, Support, ...

Hi, follwoing scenario. In the compliance rule you have a attachment policy which for example deletes exe files. This policy is now valid for the real time traffic which will be initiated using the exchange transport hook. Means every message which includes an exe file, will be modified due to the policy. Using the vsapi to scan the information store you will also apply this policy. In case you will have a different attachment policy for your scheduled scan, so there is no way to configure ...

Hi, my experience is that the SMSMSE eventlog isnt able to display the right information. Example From my local quarantine I had released a mail which seems to be reseted by the delivery mta. So the quarantine displays the same attachment using the same time stamp. Thank you for recreating that issue and dont through it away. The eventlog displayed only... successfully released. :-( From my point it is not right due to SMTP standard that the message was not assumed by the MTA. So in general ...

Hi, due to security risks I choose a antivirus product for exchange. The problem is that on a new e2k7 platform the scheduled full scan isnt available anymore. So there is now way to be sure that all stored objects where scanned using the current pattern. In some cases it is helpful only scan the objects of the last week, but in the past we all learned that in some cases a fullscan is necessary, due to changed patterns and so on. Due to a performance issue I think first of all there is the ...

Hi, in my console I have more than 40 nodes with SMSMSE added. This 40 servers are managed in the same group due to they have the same settings and exchange role. After choosing the group it takes several minutes to authenticate on each server and request the information. So I can have one coffee and after that I have the information for this view available. Went from SMSMSE Dashboard to SMSMSE Eventlog which takes after pressing F5(workaround) also several minutes and coffee during the ...

Hi, in the implementation of SMSMSE I have only the possibility to trust Symantec detecting multimedia files and executable files based on true-file type. The give the administrators and policy designer more flexibility it would be great if a list of true file types will be displayed where I can choose several of those I need. thank you

Hi, after setting up several e2k servers with SMSMSE I have to manage the product. The best way to do that is to have one console. In case of that this server isnt available due to maintenance or malfunction it would be good to have a second console installed. From that point it is possible to cover that issue in the current released SMSMSE. But one issue is missing. When I deploy new SMSMSE and add this in one servers assets it is only in this console. I learned that behind that is a XML ...
