 Today i would like to share some information which i had been facing when i was tried to boot my client to restore BMR backup

Environment

Veritas NetbackupOS win2003 R2
Veritas Netbackup Server version is 6.5
Veritas Netbackup Server is also the DHCP Server

Problem

i had been facing some problem when i was tried to boot my client to restore BMR backup

Errors

PXE-E74 : Bad or missing PXE menu and/or prompt information
PXE-E55 : ProxyDHCP service did not reply to the request on port 4011

Work Around

I also tried the below link but i have not found any success. even though the below link is also informative

 Today in my BLOG i will discuss an error which i was facing in "prepare to restore" name [Error] V-126-3 'bmrprep' could not complete the requested operation""

Environment

Veritas Netbackup Server 6.5
OS win2003 R2
Client OS whose backup i willing to restore win2003R2 

Problem

I was facing an error when i was doing a ""prepare to restore"" so i can restore the BMR backup. As i click on ""Prepare to Restore"" i face the error  
[Error] V-126-3 'bmrprep' could not complete the requested operation""

Note:-
I also got a document which was saying me to upgrade Veritas 6.5 to Veritas 6.5.4 and the problem will be resolved

 Today in my BLOG i would like to discuss an error which i have been facing while taking the BMR backup in Veritas Netbackup Server 6.5

PROBLEM

Today in my BLOG i would like to discuss the ""socket write failed(24)"" shown in the Activity Monitor in the result of a failed backup job

ENVIRONMENT

Server
Windows 2003 Server R2
Netbackup Server 6.5

Client
Windows2003 Server R2

PROBLEM

I was facing the error socket write failed(24)  when i initiated a job and faced the mentioned error in Activity Monitor

RESOLUTION 

I simply changed the property values from Enable to Disable from the NIC card properties. You can see the below picture for your help

Today in my BLOG i would like to share when i was trying to connect to a computer in the CLIENTS in the host properties in Veritas Netbackup i was facing an error ""Server not allowed access"". 

PROBLEM

when i was trying to connect to a computer via the virtual name(this virtual name is the virtual name of two nodes of exchange cluster), i was facing an error ""Server not allowed access"".  

If you see the below picture you will able to see exact message which i was facing

RESOLUTION

I thought i will definately be the issue of DNS so i ran the command bpclntcmd -pn but i was not able to see any result and i corrected the host file entries after connecting one by one via terminal to the virtual name, node and node2.

Today i would like to discuss a problem which i have been facing with MS SQL Server backup. Actually my SQL parent job failed with error 2 and child job failed with error 6 in the Activity Monitor.

Problem

I am taking the backup of SQl database. my parent job is failed with error 2 and child job is failed with error 6 in the Activity Monitor. i also posted both errors below for the reference.

 Today i would like to discuss very interesting work around in my BLOG. In my this BLOG ""Recovery of Catalog asking multiple paths"" i share the experience in which my Recovery wizard of Catalog (at DR site) asking DSU path of second copy of backup image which actually present at primary site and this thing made me nut...!!!!

Problem

I am using Verias Netbackup 6.5 with Win2003 Server

At my primary site i have an online Hot Catalog policy which is taking the backup on tape cartrige. This backup of Catalog is the primary copy. i also have configured multiple copy of this Online Hot Catalog backup which is taking the backup on Disk Storage Unit (DSU) as a second copy. The DSU is on a hard disk drive who's drive letter is ''L''.

Recently I was participating in the annual Disaster Recovery tests. One of my Netbackup servers in DR scope is installed on windows and its performing backups of virtual machines (VCB backup proxy server). Since this server is utilitising on daily basis about one tape I projected that during DR test I will just import all tapes from this server (there should not be more then 3 tapes - last three backup sets). So I wasn't creating any hot backup to tape (yet another tape to be offsited). During DR test I imported all needed tapes. Phases I and II went smoothly, I was able to see clients backups in reports, cool. I ran BAR and configured it to restore first VMware machine client. What was my surprise when after selecting "Select for Restore/ Restore from Virtual Machine Backup" BAR told me that there is no backup available to restore from!!
