Even after setting up the credentials properly on each and every front-end servers, app servers, SQL servers and NetBackup's host properties, it is possible that NetBackup still doesn't see the farm topology. This usually manifests in backups failing with status code 200 "scheduler found no backup to run".

If you encounter the above error message:

1. Log in to the primary front-end server (to identify which box, simply launch your SharePoint 2010 Central Administration console and take note of the hostname on the web address).

2. Launch NetBackup Backup, Archive, and Restore GUI with "Run as administrator".

3. Click "Select for Backup".

4. Let's see whether "Microsoft SharePoint Resources" is listed under All Folders.

If not, do the following:

Hey Guys,

Remember, status 2 popping up while taking SharePoint backups. I bet you must be .. as these are the really frustrating ones.

Some days back i posted about how to set the spswrapper timeout

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/blogs/configuring-spswrapper-timout-registry

Now we can set this value via the tool - sharepoint_check.exe by a single command.

Sharepoint_check.exe -timeout [Value in Seconds]

You shall get the below message.

SPSWrapper Timeout set to X seconds.

You can download the latest version from the below link. This also contains other small fixes.

Hey Guys,

Recently I came across a case where the one of our customer was facing an issue on restore of SharePoint List that contained custom columns.

Before

BeforeCustomCol.jpg

After

AfterCustomCol.png

I tried reproducing it in house but I could not, then I asked for output of spprobe2010.exe, from the output I could see that the customer has upgraded SharePoint to cumulative pack - 14.0.6134.5000.

I upgraded my SharePoint setup to same cumulative pack and tested again and voila!!! The issue is reproduced at my setup. I investigated further and found that there are some underlying SQL changes in the cumulative pack.

The fix to this has been provided in an ET...

How far along are you on your virtualization journey? Most organizations already have more than half of their systems virtualized and are currently virtualizing their most business critical applications.

Now you are facing the challenge of keeping your ever-expanding virtual environment protected while providing the required service level for the business critical physical systems. Managing two separate isolated environments increases complexity and introduces potential for gaps in the data protection strategy if not carefully planned and implemented.

A poorly planned data protection strategy will not only increase risk to the data but will also consume more storage, restrict your recovery options and increase the time spent managing the environment. This is why it is important to understand the options and pitfalls when building a data protection strategy for virtual and mixed environments.

Host-level Integration and Virtual Machine optimized...

The backups have begun to fail consistently with the following error:
Error bpbrm (pid=16758) db_FLISTsend failed: system call failed (11)

I have found that the directory, /opt/openv/netbackup/db/images, is pegged at 100%. What suggestions might you have to recover from this situation?

Thank you,

Russ

Hi Guys

Many people and myself many times came through this error

i have also locked the call to symantec and ask on forum , they told me the same.

when i ran the command vssadmin list writers

it gives Microsoft Exchange Writer: Retryable Error

, i have checked many symantec tech notes on it .

and in short i summarised it that we have to reboot the exchange server

Find the TECH NOTE here

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH181190

Cause

This issue is normally caused because the “Microsoft Exchange Writer” is not working properly. You can verify its status with the “vssadmin list writers” command:

Writer name: 'Microsoft Exchange Writer'
Writer Id: {76fe1ac4-15f7-4bcd-987e-8e1acb462fb7}
