I am very happy to share that Symantec recently won 2 of the most prestigious awards from 2 of the most reputable publishing houses in the Middle East Region. “Security Vendor of the Year” was awarded to Symantec at the Network World Middle East Awards 2012 by publishing house Corporate Publishing International (CPI). The very next night, guess who won the “Software Vendor of the Year” at the Channel Middle East Awards 2012 by Information Technology Publishing (ITP)?

Symantec, of course!

First of all, I would like to thank our team in the region for getting us to the stage where well-regarded media and organizations clearly see us as an industry leader, recognizing our technology and business...

I’m always excited about meeting our partners from across the region and I have to say that this first stand-alone edition of Partner Engage in EMEA more than fulfilled my expectations. What a delight to meet so many of you from all countries across the region! And that went far beyond just meeting, but also discussing and interacting with you, and seeing you catching new networking opportunities there.

It also went beyond my expectations as this year’s theme, re:think, was about going beyond our existing relationships and existing opportunities. Partner Engage 2012 was clearly aimed at empowering you with the latest information, sales and technical expertise as well as insights in order to meet our clients’ needs in higher information protection better and together. It was about re:thinking the way we can maximize opportunities, re:imagining how to make it easier for SMBs to do business with us and altogether, re:energizing the way we do business together...

According to the sixth annual Ponemon report, 2010 Annual Study: U.S. Cost of a Data Breach sponsored by Symantec, the need for complete protection has never been more urgent – 31 percent of all breach cases involved a malicious or criminal act, and averaged $318 per record, up 43 percent from 2009.  In addition, the number of breaches caused by negligence edged up one point to 41 percent and averaged $196 per record, up 27 percent from 2009.  This steady trend reflects the ongoing challenge of ensuring employee and partner compliance with security policies.

As partners, you have the opportunity to help your customers assess their risk and provide both services and products to help them prevent costly data breaches.  To get started, check out this great tool, the Data Breach Risk Calculator, to show your customers their level of risk and engage in a conversation regarding how...
