Like every business, our partners are continually searching for new ways to improve their brand, increase revenue and win the respect and appreciation of their customers. At Partner Engage in October, my recommendation to you, our partners, was to achieve added success by stepping out of your comfort zone to find new angles and methods of specialization to provide quality products and services for your customers. This still holds true, and will not only enable you to drive additional revenue, but will also show your customers that you are not a stagnant enterprise.

So what can you do to continue to step out of your comfort zone? My suggestion is to offer mobile solutions on top of the existing endpoint management solutions you offer to your customers.

As we all know very well, mobile adoption isn’t without risks. In fact, the survey Symantec released today on the state of mobility found that approximately three...

I’m always excited about meeting our partners from across the region and I have to say that this first stand-alone edition of Partner Engage in EMEA more than fulfilled my expectations. What a delight to meet so many of you from all countries across the region! And that went far beyond just meeting, but also discussing and interacting with you, and seeing you catching new networking opportunities there.

It also went beyond my expectations as this year’s theme, re:think, was about going beyond our existing relationships and existing opportunities. Partner Engage 2012 was clearly aimed at empowering you with the latest information, sales and technical expertise as well as insights in order to meet our clients’ needs in higher information protection better and together. It was about re:thinking the way we can maximize opportunities, re:imagining how to make it easier for SMBs to do business with us and altogether, re:energizing the way we do business together...

Today, Symantec announced better backup for our partners and their customers, with the release of Backup Exec 2012 and NetBackup 7.5 leading the charge. Backup should not be a daunting task for any organization. With this launch, we are providing options that will enable our partners to tailor backup solutions to each unique customer – from enterprises to SMBs. Symantec has also made backup more effective for partners to help their customers protect critical business information without breaking the budget or feeling the pains from the difficulty and intricacy that is often associated with backup.

Backup is going through rapid changes. Symantec sees these changes as the catalyst needed to simplify, automate and modernize backup. Symantec recently surveyed more than 1,400 IT professionals worldwide on...

2011 is coming to an end. And as we celebrate the successes of the past year, it's also a great time to start looking toward 2012. What are you going to do to grow your business and increase your relevance in the new year? Here are a few of my tips:

  • Step outside of your comfort zone– Key trends – cloud computing, virtualization, mobile, and information explosion–are transforming the industry and having a profound impact on customers of all sizes. Don't be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone and expand your footprint. To be successful in this new environment, we need to take an information-centric approach. By taking this approach, you'll be able to confidently capitalize on the opportunities...

Partners –Symantec is excited about the growing opportunity in the Small and Midsize Business market.  We are focusing our resources on programs to help support you in increasing demand and driving revenue in that market segment. Last week, we announced an enhanced SMB Specialization, with exciting new financial incentives, advanced SMB-focused technical support, and tailored tools and enablement benefits to help you be successful.

The new program benefits kick in once you have achieved membership in the new program, either in one expertise track, SMB Backup, or the other, SMB Security, or both. All partners are encouraged to achieve both tracks, as the financial benefits increase with your training commitment. The transition period for members of the former Specialization is underway and ends February 17, 2012. Former members have until then to leverage former program benefits and to bring their accreditations in alignment with the enhanced Specialization.

I always look forward to Partner Engage and the opportunity to spend time with our partners.  This year, we've gathered about 300 partners in Chandler, AZ to provide an update on Symantec's product vision and channel strategy.

Symantec is rapidly evolving as a company and Partner Engage gives us an opportunity to share Symantec's vision and help our partners take their businesses to the next level with our solutions.  This year, we're talking a lot about key industry trends—like cloud, virtualization and mobility—and the impact they're having on Symantec and our partners.  My goal is to have everyone here walk away with new ideas around how to take advantage of these opportunities.

To that end, today we announced that two of our services—Symantec Endpoint and Backup—are now available through the distribution channel in the US and Canada.  It is clear that...
