  • Backup Exec 2010 and NetBackup 7 Launch- On January 27, 2010 over 400 channel partners attended the North America launch of Backup Exec 2010 and NetBackup 7. The event was delivered as a live simulcast from Pittsburgh, PA to 21 cities in the United States. There’s been a lot of recent discussion and news coverage focused on cyber attacks, system vulnerabilities and how companies can protect against malicious cyber threats. But here’s a staggering statistic for you – did you know that 75 percent of organizations have suffered a cyber attack in the past 12 months resulting in costs averaging $2 million annually? While 42% of organizations rate security as the top issue, they also report that enterprise security is becoming more difficult due to understaffing, new IT initiatives that intensify security issues and IT compliance issues. 

Symantec’s new 2010 State of Enterprise Security Studyis based on surveys of 2,100 enterprise CIOs, CISOs and IT managers from 27 countries in January 2010. The study highlights data around the degree enterprises rank their level of concern about security, the number and level of cyber attacks during the past 12 months, how 100% of enterprises experienced cyber losses...

In order to help our partners access extra capital and  improve cash flow, Symantec has been offering an  Extended Terms Financing program,  which provides free 60-day extended payment terms for selected products.   The program is currently available to  Symantec Registered and Silver North American Partner Program Members possessing an SMB Specialization. 

I'd like to hear your feedback and find out if anyone in the Partner community on Connect is utilizing the program , if it is effective for you, and if you'd like Symantec to continue to offer this benefit for SMB Specialized partners.

Randy Cochran, Enrique Salem, along with other Symantec executives welcomed over 350 executive level channel Partners and Sales Champs to Partner Engage 2009 in Orlando, Florida, November 4 - 6. This year's theme, “Symantec Is Unstoppable”, gave us the opportunity throughout the day to highlight a few success stories with resellers and customers about how Symantec’s solutions map to IT challenges and how partners can better leverage the Symantec solution portfolio to identify key opportunities for driving ROI.

As Symantec's Partner Engage 2009 kicks off this week in Orlando, FL we're anticipating an action packed agenda and an exciting line-up of speakers to share our direction and talk about the business opportunity for Partners who invest in Symantec.  As always, we're also looking forward to creating excellent engagement opportunities between Symantec leadership and our Partner Community over the next few days.
