They covered our high-level corporate responsibility (CR) priorities, the progress we've made, and areas where we need to improve in order for us to reach our CR goals. The call was moderated by Wendell Davis, social media manager at Symantec.

Everyone wants to know where the women are in technology and what can be done to draw them to the field. What is the magic solution? At Symantec, we’re taking on the challenge of attracting more women to technology from a variety of angles.

We start when they’re young by encouraging not only girls but all children to study STEM subjects – science, technology, engineering and math – in grade school and college, and to pursue STEM as a career. Symantec puts its money where its mouth is. According to our FY13 Corporate Responsibility Report , 46 percent of our corporate giving in FY13 went toward...

Loftis equated the lack of Internet safety training to handing car keys to a 16-year-old with almost no driving experience, and it is an apt comparison.

Symantec’s FY13 Corporate Responsibility Report released last week shows that 26 percent of Symantec’s FY13...

By Kelly Shea, Symantec Global Sustainability Project Manager

As we prepare for the release of Symantec’s FY13 Corporate Responsibility (CR) report, this is a good time to provide additional context around our environment performance – where our focus is as a company, how we’re doing and our goals over the next year.

Corporate responsibility is inherent to Symantec’s business and built into our priorities and values. This month Symantec will release its FY13 Corporate Responsibility Report, which provides an update on our performance and progress on key goals over the last year.

In the coming weeks, several Symantec employees will share their thoughts around our progress in several of our key CR focus areas: environmental responsibility, online safety, and gender and diversity.

We’ll hear from Kelly Shea, Global Sustainability Program Manager; Cecily Joseph, Senior Director, Corporate Responsibility; Marian Merritt, Norton Internet Safety Advocate; and Charmy Ruparel, Program Manager, Diversity & Inclusion. We look forward to bringing you their perspectives and insights on our FY13 CR strategy and performance.

Stay tuned for this series starting this Tuesday, 9/10!...
