Welcome to the new Symantec Connect Developer community - an online area where our development partners, customers and Symantec can share information with each other. The Symantec Connect site consists of many community areas, now including this community specifically for Developers. You'll also find many product communities as well.

As a member of the Symantec Management Platform (SMP) Developer Group, you can post content publicly or privately - “for other group memebers to view only” by associating content with theSymantec Management Platform (SMP) Group. If you registered on Symantec Connect with the same email as that on file with the developer program, you will automatically be registered for the group. Otherwise, you may request membership if you are registered for the Symantec Developer Program.

This video will give you a quick...

Hi,

As you can't post to two communities at once, I thought I'd blog out in the Developer community that I'm working over these dark winter months on pushing forward with an Imaging Add-on the DS6.9 branch called ImageInvoker.

I intend to document as much as possible on how I develop the product, so I'm hoping that if any of you spot me doing something easy the hard way you'll give me a prod huh?!?

When Hampton is released in March 2011 I'll press on with an equivalent add-on there too most likely.

Ta for now,
Ian./

Apologies if this is repetitive and everyone in Altiris land but me knows about this, but I recently dove head first into Mobile Application Development.  My most recent project was all about giving our user base a nice and simple way to submit tickets to Helpdesk 6 from their Blackberries.

I have a lot of code that I'd be happy to upload, but I figured I'd post the general ideas and see if anyone's actually interested.  These methods have a trade off for speed and usability.  What I'm discussing below are the two main methodologies I found for submitting an incident (ticket) to the Helpdesk.  I also attached some screenshots of the UI I made, which is designed to be quick and use plain English with selectable lists and other input devices to make it easier for them to fill out information.

  • Send an email from the device - By signing your application with keys from RIM you have access to a number of...

I frequently find myself writing blocks of end-user facing text that are inserted into various Workflow UI components.  There's no built-in spellcheck capability, so my mediocre typing accuracy has a bad habit of showing up far too often.

I'm sure there are ton of these sites, but this is the one I've been using for a few weeks now. It's a painless experience to paste in the text, get corrections and copy the results back out.  I've only been using the English dictionary, but supposedly it has support for 27 languages.

The buzz word cloud can be a little confusing from lay man points of view when compared to internet. But when it has been presented in a proper way this can be an effective mechanism for unmanned handling of IT services.

To go in to a more technical term, let me quote an example, where a server has been failed in the Data Center and it is of an important thing and may cause a serious damage in terms of profit to the end customer. In this case, if a cloud workflow, has been implemented such as a policy engine and an deployment system which acts like a software as a service then, the failed server can be automatically recovered with the corresponding data embedded in the same.

Diving deep in to the cloud, we can also write a cloud workflow in such a manner that it will also act on the Virtual machines. For example if a Virtual machine fails, then an event will be triggered, upon capturing the event, the workflow starts with backing up of the data in the Vm and then...

Welcome to the Symantec Connect Developer community — an online area where our development partners, customers, and Symantec can share information with each other. We have several developer groups that are active in this community and will continue to add to these groups over time. Note that most of the content in this area is private to members of the groups. Current groups include:

Symantec Management  Platform (SMP)
Much of the information in this group is accessible to registered members of the Symantec Developer Program and requires that you be a registered program member and a Symantec Management  Platform (SMP) group member to view content and access downloads on Symantec Connect. If you are a registered member of the Symantec Developer Program, you may request membership to this group.
