Our team has gotten a request from our support organization and SQL server configuration for the Endpoint Management suite of the products (primarily Altiris CMS, SMS, and Asset Management). Please take a few minutes to check out an external page dedicated to the best practices around implementing and optimizing 2005 and 2008 SQL Server.

Here are some of the interesting characteristics of the new xml file.

First of all the SIM version bumped from 7.0.52 to 7.0.64. Its MD5 hash is 0562c0db3a754f3fb56faaaae7ead49b.

Then we have a major additions that should interested the Connect community:

  • Altiris Client Management Suite SP2 MR3, version 7.0.14

Here are some of the solutions updated:

  • Altiris Patch Management Solution for Linux SP2 MR3
  • Altiris Deployment Solution Core MR3 (v7.1.643)
  • Altiris Software Management Solution SP2 MR3
  • Altiris Asset Management MR3
  • Altiris IT Management Suite MR3
  • and so on

Now it will be very interesting to see how all of this installs and behave. I'm specially awaiting for a Software Management fix of the Symantec Management Agent that fails to download modified package files...

Did you know that you can enter a direct link to the Resource Manager of any managed computer without knowing it's guid?

Typically you get a long and complicated URL when you view the resource manager of any computer, however if you want to quick link to a specific one, or if you're like me and you jump around to different settings often you can link to those quickly using the following URL.

For SMP 7 the link is:

For NS 6 the link is:

Just another handy tip to help your support teams get the information they need without bothering you.

You don't want to miss a word and now you can subscribe to that author and receive a notification when new content is published by that person - regardless of the subject or community.

Here's how:

Find a current post by your favorite author and click on "Subscriptions" at the end of the post.
