The Banking Technology Mobile summit was held earlier this summer and with a full day of mobile and banking content combined with technology. It is truly exciting as we see La Caixa rolling out mobile contactless payments in the relatively small Spanish town Sitges (and getting loads of attention!) and Barclaycard that has been working on mobile payments since 2008 with optimistic, yet relatively few customers. So innovation is great in the banking sector for mobile services, but volumes are still small. Alltogether we are still on a showcasing level of mobile services offered to pay via mobile phones and other banking services. Gartner is though reassuring us that the boom will come by 2012 when we will se mobile payments double.

Well, consider this: As you and your employees take some well-deserved time off, will you be taking smartphones with you? Of course you will. And chances are you will be accessing corporate data. In fact, a recent Symantec survey on security habits of mobile device users revealed that 62 percent of corporate smartphone users access sensitive corporate information while on vacation, and 81 percent will at least be checking their business email accounts.
