Sometimes incoming emails are not processed correctly by ServiceDesk 7 and error messages stating: "Thread was being aborted" appears in sd 7 logs.

Cause: By default email monitor project when deployed to iis works 90 seconds and then terminates.

Solution: You should increase the timeout of the Email monitor webservice. In order to do that in email monitor project go to "Resources" tab and find web.config file. Open it for edit and add the string: httpRuntime executionTimeout="number of seconds" and then deploy the project. We increased the timeout up to 100 minutes so our string looked like: httpRuntime executionTimeout="6000". After that the error disappeared.

Let’s pretend for a moment that you’re on a business trip. You hear the boarding call for your flight and reach down to grab you laptop – only your laptop isn’t there. Whether it was left at security or snagged by another traveler in the terminal, your laptop is gone and your company data is at risk.

So what do you do? Typically you’ll need to make a call to the office, notifying your IT department of the incident. This call will initiate a chain reaction of events set into place to ensure measures are taken to secure the files and equip you with a new device to keep business running as usual. This process typically involves a series of forms, approvals, signatures, etc.

While it may sound simple, enforcing processes with effectiveness is one of hardest things for companies to do. With multiple people involved and steps required, any number of things can go wrong, slowing down the process –...

The WorkflowSWAT group on Connect is getting a face lift! Perhaps you've noticed that some of the helpful links haven't been too helpful recently. We've noticed too, so we've gotten out the tape measure and chalk and making renovations.

First and most noticable is the name - it will now be known as Symantec Workflow. This won't affect your bookmarks at all - the url hasn't changed

You know the WorkflowSWAT site, we're linking up and soon will be providing blogs and and links to videos, downloads, training info - things you ask for every day, and the Connect forums to ask questions of the Workflow experts.

Are you part of the group yet? If not ...

It has been seen that web links within the Description field can cause formatting issue in the Process View window when displaying an incident (see screenshot).

The cause of this is how the Process Manager parses this. To work around this, make sure you put some non-link text before the web link. Once it parses the boundary, then it is able to format correctly.

More than ever before, smartphones are keeping us connected both personally and professionally. Because most of us have a preference as to the ideal smartphone, IT departments are increasingly being tasked with managing a mix of business-liable and employee-liable devices. This trend has become known as the consumerization of IT.

Symantec has developed a short survey to get smartphone end users’ perspectives on this trend. We’d also like to learn more about how your employer is managing the growing use of smartphones, especially those being purchased and brought into the organization by employees. The quick five minute survey can be found here: http://bit.ly/gsdgmX.

Once you’ve taken the survey, please stay tuned to this blog as we’ll be sharing the results once the survey is complete.

So, you're all registered for Vision and you're wondering who else from Connect will be there.

We're gonna make it easy on you! Add your name to the comments section in this blog posted in the Vision Community, and Leslie will print you out a nifty sticker with your username and avatar. Then, stop by the Internet Lounge at Vision and pick your sticker up. :)  That way, one of us from Connect will have the opportunity to meet you. And soon, all your fellow Connect users will realize that YOU are the one with all those fabulous comments.

DEADLINE: You have to add your name by April 25 to this thread. That way I'll have time to create the stickers and print them in time for the event.

Remember, comment on the blog post in the Vision...

You've seen the post in this community about the #Altiris chat - manned by volunteers who are Altiris Admins like you and willing to answer your questions. But have you ever wondered what goes on, without actually wanting to wander into that great unknown? Or worse yet, have you wandered in and no one is there?! We don't always have answers to the questions that are asked, but we do our best.

One of the #Altiris regulars GaurhothW put this report together showing what times are most active (times listed are EST) and who is most active. You can also see some of the random comments - thus we will be watching what we say so we aren't randomly quoted saying something embarrassing!

The information on this report updates periodically #...
