Okay, maybe there are times when you don't want users to vote on your knowledge base articles. If you're a member of that club, diluzio has figured out how to tweak the code and eliminate the votes.

As with any changes, make sure you have a good backup first.

Most importantly, make a copy of the ArticleView.ascx, in \Program Files\Altiris\Helpdesk\AeXHD\templates.

Then all you have to do is comment out one line in the ArticleView.ascx template. Comment out the line which starts:

The number of systems supported by the latest version of Dell Client Manager is extremely limited. I noticed when using the OpenManage console that the list of supported model types is only about 43.

The guide says: "Management capabilities for certain older models as well as Dell Inspiron notebooks and Dimension desktops are limited to discovery only."

The only reason I ask is that the older version of OpenManage worked with most of the systems in our environment and I'm surprised that the capabilities of the tool are now so limited.

Does this mean that we can only do tasks like BIOS updates and alert notifications for supported systems? Are there plans to include legacy systems as well? Is there a way to manually extend the system list to other version?
