The Windows IT Pro, SQL Server Magazine and Dev Pro Connections readers choice awards have opened up for voting. There are a number of Symantec products nominated in each award program and if you’re up for it, I invite you to visit the voting site and cast your votes. In some instances, there are more than one Symantec product per category. Since you can only vote in each category once, please just pick your favorite Symantec solution in those cases.

Votes can be cast here:

Happy SysAdminDay!

I'm kicking myself for nearly letting this one sneak by without my notice! But how can I let the day pass without giving a shout out to all the Connect members to toil away and don't get nearly enough recognition?!

This day isn't as widely known as International Talk Like a Pirate Day but it's still a day that's dear to my heart because it's one day out of the year that recognizes YOU! Without you, I wouldn't have a job, so keep up the good work!

Go ahead, take tomorrow off!

I was stuck in an application where I had to use the 32 bit source for both 32 and 64 bit machines. The application seemed to work fine, except the context menu option in x64 machines.

I found a great post by David Vielmetter on his blog http://davidvielmetter.com/tricks/context-menu-issues-with-gvim-in-windows-7-x64/ and I was able to solve the issue. I think context menu many times create an issue in 64 bit machines and this is a good way to solve them (This is entirely my point of view). If someone has some better suggestions, they are most welcome to comment here. I too would like to learn more on how to create 64 bit context menu options.

Thanks.

The primary key of the ICON table should have the extension as .exe or .ico, else the icon will not display properly.
For example if the extension is abc.js then the same javascript icon will be shown in this case. If it is .txt then notepad icon will be displayed. Whatever be there in the [Binary], that does not matter if there is any other extension apart from .exe or .ico

So, you're all registered for Vision and you're wondering who else from Connect will be there.

We're gonna make it easy on you! Add your name to the comments section in this blog posted in the Vision Community, and Leslie will print you out a nifty sticker with your username and avatar. Then, stop by the Internet Lounge at Vision and pick your sticker up. :)  That way, one of us from Connect will have the opportunity to meet you. And soon, all your fellow Connect users will realize that YOU are the one with all those fabulous comments.

DEADLINE: You have to add your name by April 25 to this thread. That way I'll have time to create the stickers and print them in time for the event.

Remember, comment on the blog post in the Vision...

As mentioned in this Connect Update Wise Application Packaging and Wise Installation Studio forums have been merged into a single forum called Wise Packaging.

Any other content (Articles, blogs, downloads, etc.) that had been designated for those two products will now be tagged with Wise Packaging. Please make a note of that if you need to update an RSS feed or any bookmarks that the change may affect.

Thanks!

You've seen the post in this community about the #Altiris chat - manned by volunteers who are Altiris Admins like you and willing to answer your questions. But have you ever wondered what goes on, without actually wanting to wander into that great unknown? Or worse yet, have you wandered in and no one is there?! We don't always have answers to the questions that are asked, but we do our best.

One of the #Altiris regulars GaurhothW put this report together showing what times are most active (times listed are EST) and who is most active. You can also see some of the random comments - thus we will be watching what we say so we aren't randomly quoted saying something embarrassing!

The information on this report updates periodically #altiris @...
