Trying to be nice here. SIM is frustrating. No product is more certain to bring an SMP server's resources to its knees.

So, word to the wise. ALWAYS close SIM when you've finished using it.

I.E.11 isn't officially supported in ITMS 7.5 release, therefore there could appear issue due incompatibility, while managing SMP 7.5 Console.
Many people have Windows 8/8.1 OS and there is I.E. 11 which (as far as I know) cannot be downgraded to lower version of I.E.

Temporary solution while next release of ITMS 7.5 where I.E. 11 will be supported:
1. Install "Chrome" browser on your WIndows 8/8.1 OS http://www.google.com/chrome/‎
2. Install "I.E. tab" for Chrome http://www.ietab.net/
3. Open "Chrome" browser ⇒ click on "I.E. tab"⇒ specify URL of your SMP Server

I have just checked my 7.5 HF4 system and have found that all six "Site Management > Settings > Monitor Service > Advanced > Windows Remote Monitoring Server <architecture> <action>" policies are enabled!

This obviously does not make sense, as the Uninstall policies should only be used either when the Install & Upgrade policies are disabled, or have had their targets changed so that they do not cover the servers that you want to target the uninstall process against.

Hello all,

I have attached three English EULA's pertaining to Altiris Product's as it appears that the EULA's are not easily found.

The EULA associated with the SIM install itself.

The EULA for ITMS 7.5

The EULA for the 9 hotfixes that are available after installing ITMS 7.5

I hope that this blog is continuously updated by the community adding either new English EULA's or the existing EULA's in non-English languages.

Hello all,

Today I ran into the above mentioned problem whilst trying to perform a clean install of ITMS 7.5, so I thought I would share what worked and what didn't.

Windows 2008 SP1 R2 with SQL 2012 SP1.

SQL was initially configured for Windows Authentication.  When SIM failed, I manually created the database to no avail.

I then changed to mixed authentication and changed the SA account (as I obviously didn't know what the original one was) via the UI.  Unfortuantely, the SA account had the same problem.

What worked was running the following query:

USE master
GO
ALTER LOGIN [sa] WITH PASSWORD=N'NewSAPassword', CHECK_POLICY = OFF
GO
ALTER LOGIN [sa] ENABLE
GO

This allowed SIM to create the database and begin the installation phase.  Once ITMS 7.5 was installed, and the 9 hotfixes (required a rebot beforehand), I opened the Database Settings page and switched to the AppId so that...

The following query will list the contents of all item folders found within the console:

SELECT vi1.Name As Folder,vi2.Name AS Item
FROM vItem vi1
JOIN vItemFolder vif ON vif.ParentFolderGuid = vi1.[Guid]
JOIN vItem vi2 ON vi2.[Guid] = vif.ItemGuid
ORDER BY Folder,Item ASC
--WHERE vif.ParentFolderGuid = 'folderguid'
--WHERE vi1.Name = 'foldername'

If you wish to use one of the WHERE clauses, then make sure you remark (--) the ORDER BY line.

Performance degradation can happen due to multiple reasons. The main bottlenecks that would affect performance are:

  1. Memory
  2. Disk IO
  3. CPU
  4. Blocking
  5. System resource contention
  6. Application design problems
  7. Queries or stored procedures that have long execution times
