April 1st DinamiQs launched it's hybrid cloud portal. The webinar where we showed our powerpoint slide deck with the Hybrid cloud portal sheets where very successful and we got a lot of questions.

But it even gets better.

Last week our datacenter was installed and configured and the hybrid cloud is up and running.

We have a whole crew of people testing the cloud to see if we did a great job with installing and configuring.

And end of the coming week the portal will be opened for anyone who wants to see the cloud.

The hybrid cloud portal will facilitate companies who want to see what it means to have a desktop or applications in the cloud and we also got a lot of questions on how we published SWV apps in the cloud.

Next week we will do a full demo for our partners and then the cloud portal will also be opened for Connect members that are involved in the Endpoint virtualization community.

See and experience how you can leverage...

Peter Cornet and his team were wearing out the soles of their shoes managing the 7,000 endpoint estate to the ROC Mondriaan education institute in The Netherlands. Regular physical on-site interventions, manual imaging and provisioning, and other tasks meant this IT manager was almost overwhelmed by the constantly changing, high maintenance end-users and 450 applications. In response, ROC Mondriaan partnered with Scense B.V., one of the Netherlands’ fastest-growing providers of workspace management solutions. The Scense User Workspace Management solution eliminates complexity within the institute’s environment, by managing and delivering applications and desktops transparently together. The Scense dynamic workspace virtualization solution, which works in conjunction with Symantec Endpoint Virtualization Suite, has enabled ROC Mondriaan to re-deploy 15 of the 40 staff previously managing endpoints, reduce the time needed to provision a typical 30-endpoint classroom from...

And soon, all your fellow Connect users will realize that YOU are the one with all those fabulous comments.

This week we released SWV SP7 (6.4.1266), formally known as Skylark, which what we're calling a hardening release.  After the last two big releases, SP4 and SP6, we decided to make this release focus on only bug fixes so there are no new features that have been added.  We spent a lot of time with existing and new customers working in their environments, and how they used the product, to ensure that SWV is a better product.

This release will be up on the public download site within the next few weeks and for the mean time you can get SP7 by contacting support.

Some of the fixed issues include:

Non-True Type fonts, if in a layer, may not properly load.

Fixed several causes of getting a Black Screen of death upon system startup when SWV is on a machine.

There were instances where scheduled tasks wouldn't run if a layer was active.

Fixed a lot of BSOD conditions.

Many bugs were fixed that will improve general...

Managing your Symantec Workspace Virtualized applications never was so easy as today. DVS SMART 3.1.3038 is now released and available at

The new integrated functionality of DVS SMART Free is available to all customers now and offers a very rich enduser managed SWV applications portal.

Where the traditional SWV admin needs full admin or power user privileges, it also brings some dangerous steps inside your environment. Many company's already experienced that end users with power user privileges also can export applications and bring them home. Problem is that the application not only contains the software, but also the license key's for the software.

DinamiQs SMART manages all the applications through a service, so end users do not need elevated permissions to perform basic steps like activate, de-actiavte and reset applications.

DVS SMART 3.1.3038 can now be customised for...

Those of you looking at deploying Outlook 2010 on your systems will need to be aware that outlook captured on XP will not run on Win7 or visa-versa.

The reason is that Outlook 2010 has a fundamentally different install for XP and Win7, so if you need to support both OSs you'll have to capture Outlook 2010 twice--once for XP and once for Win7.  Note: You can still capture 32-bit outlook on either Win7 versions and it will run when you move it to a different architecture.

Another note is PST and OST corruption with Outlook 2007, though it's recommended to do the following for Office 2010.  You'll need to add the following Exclude entries to the layer [APPDATA] w/subdir and [LOCALAPPDATA] w/subdir.  Keen eyed users will realized that this will prevent reset from really working as intended, because all the user data will be excluded from the layer, so those of you that want to avoid that reset issue can exclude the following file types from your...
