I think a lot of people, like me, spend a lot of time try finding how to get those download:

  • Latest Symantec workspace Virtualization, SWV 7.5, that is advanced SVS version, is integrated with the Altiris client management suite CMS 7.  (Yes, it was also named "SVS PRO")
  • Notice 1: This package includes the "Wise Virtual Composer", and both x86+x64 versions.
  • Notice 2: This link currently also includes SWS (Streaming) and SWC (Corporate) seems not any more maintain.
  • [please vote my post if you use it ;-]

Story: I was thinking only SVS 2.1 (Software Virtualization Solution) was integrated into the "Client Management Suite 7". But this is not the case and SWV 6.1 (Symantec Workspace Virtualization) must not be paid in addition.

Free home license: Both SVS 2.1 "light" version & SWV are still free personal use. I...

As already had expected, the Windows 7 Release Candidate build (build 7100) has been leaked ahead of an official release by Microsoft.

I received confirmation early on Wednesday that build 7100 had been finalized and noticed early this morning that both the 32-bit and 64-bit flavors had been leaked to various P2P networks. Fake downloads had appeared yesterday but these were quickly removed. The latest downloads appear to be genuine

Finally Microsoft is changing one big disadvantage in Windows by default. Autorun will be disabled. No longer anoying screens that only can be disabled by clicking do this always.
Autorun on USB sticks will be disabled.

As some of our readers are well aware, Conficker and other malware is taking advantage of the AutoRun functionality as a spreading mechanism. Furthermore, over the last couple of months, there has been a significant increase of this threat, as more malware is abusing this functionality. Further information about this specific threat has been highlighted in the recent Security Intelligence Report (look for Win32/AutoRun) and the Microsoft Malware Protection Center (MMPC) blog.

As many SVS\SWV packagers can tell you Office 2007 can require some effort to Virtualize and on Vista there's more work to be done. One error that's confusing is: "This document could not be registered. It will not be possible to create links from other documents to this document." and while it appears mostly on Vista you can run into it on Windows XP.  The root cause is what Fonts you have in the base or in the layer just like the "There is insufficient memory or disk space. Word cannot display the requested font" errors you see, which is more common and both of which are more prevalent in SWV then SVS.

Why?  Well with SWV we fixed the font loading issues so fonts now correctly load on a layer activate or when set to Activate On System Startup, which means no more having...

In our daily work we always look for tools to do our work at its best. But in our private life we look for tools that help us do nice things.

I found a set of nice tools. And you can use them at home and in the office.

Normally I would create a VSA of them and distribute that, but it's Microsoft and they do not allow us to.

So here are the tools and if there is something there for you? The link is on the page.

PowerToys add fun and functionality to the Windows experience. What are they? PowerToys are additional programs that developers work on after a product has been released.

Note: We take great care to ensure that PowerToys work as they should, but they are not part of Windows and are not supported by Microsoft. For this reason, Microsoft Technical Support is unable to answer questions about PowerToys. PowerToys are for Windows XP only and will not work with Windows Vista.

Important

  • If you installed PowerToys prior...

Version(s): 3.0

Capture Mode: Single Program Capture

This is a program that most people do not want on their computers. It installs a couple of programs that are near impossible to remove. Luckily, since SVS has the program virtulized, removing these applications is as easy as a deactivate and delete.
