liracgetd Version(s): 5.x, 6.x, 7.x

Capture Method: Single Program Capture

Normally, you go to www.adobe.com and click on the download icon which leads you to http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html. You uncheck the yahoo stuff and click the download button and that leads you to the downloader.

You can avoid all the above clicks and download the download manager from: ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/7x/7.0.5/... or click the link "If it does not start, click here to download"

Running that eventually downloads the actual...

siteltrocb notrle Versions 5,6, and 7 of reader, and 6 and 7 Professional.

For me only the global capture worked properly.

To activate and use the pdf printer, simply stop and start the print spooler service. check out this juice article: Creating printer in svs layers

DLC(Data Layer Creation) is a nice tool that will help you create an appropriate data layer.

I did a single program capture with 7 Pro. It works fine and i have had no problems with the PDF printer without doing anything special. No stop start printing required on my Windows XP Home machine.

Version(s): Professional 6.x, SE Personal 1.x

This is probably a good example of an application you would not want to deploy in production as a Virtual Software Package. It's a great test app because it generates so much file system and registry activity. But the types of fixes it makes are things you probably want actually written to the base, not in a layer.

- Application Name

ActiveState ActivePerl

- Notes

Captured using install capture, on a pristine Windows XP SP2 VM. Import / Export seems to work just fine.

- Application Version

5.8.7.815

- Things to watch for

Make sure to install IIS first. One problem I found is that SVS doesn't handle IIS metabase changes, so the virtual directory for samples will still exist in IIS, but won't point to anything.

tacnaroldel Version(s): 3.1 SR-1

Capture Type: Single Program Capture

For this one, I installed ACDSee 3.0 and then re-entered capture mode (with the "Update Existing Layer" option in SVSAdmin) to apply the 3.1 SR-1 Updater.

After completing captures, you will need to go into [PROGRAMFILES]\ACD\PlugIns and rename the .APL files with truncated file names. This is a known issue with the ACDSee 3.x installer, NOT an SVS issue. See the ACD Systems support site for details, [1]

I always add an exclude entry for [WINDIR] (not including subdirectories). That way, after setting a wallpaper from within ACDSee, the wallpaper will always be available, whether or not the ACDSee layer is active. (When setting a wallpaper from within ACDSee, it creates a file in [WINDIR] called ACD Wallpaper.bmp)

Version(s): 7.0

Capture Type: Single Program Capture

OS capture was performed on: Windows 2003 Enterprise Server Release 2

I installed and ran the...

Version(s): 8.0.1.86

Capture Type: Single Program Capture

This is a Russian-English dictionary software. The application works great, no problems so far.

No ABBYY is not spelled wrong, that's just the name of the company.

Version tested:0.10.13

Mode needed: Global Capture

Ethereal needs to be started in a global capture mode. The reason for this is Ethereal starts a program called WinPCap that deals with the interface into Network cards. Once captured the program works very well.

Single Program Capture Windows XP SP2

Works Great! Might want to exclude your documents and settings folder if you want to keep your magazines in the My Documents folder when the layer is deactivated.
