Hi all –  A couple of items of interest.  Voting is now open for the Windows IT Pro Community Choice awards.  Category #31 is “Best Virtualization Product” and Symantec Endpoint Virtualization has been nominated.  There are also many other great Symantec Altiris products in other categories.  Doug at just posted this several page overview of the Symantec Endpoint Virtualization suite.  If you use SWV or SWS and aren’t familiar with the other products in the suite it’s really a great summary and a quick read.

On August 20th, Symantec Workspace Virtualization 6.1 SP1 Beta announced program availability and...

As usual, lots of cool stuff at BriForum this year. About 25 vendors, hundreds of attendees, and as always, some of the industry's best sessions. Although this is traditionally a technical show around the Citrix and terminal services community, many attendee companies have already started looking at various forms of virtual desktop and have full scale pilots in progress. Aside from some of the ongoing debate around VDI versus Terminal Services, I was able to hear some really interesting dialog and debate on the need for virtual desktops in general. I've been hearing from more IT managers that have recently become responsible for both the traditional desktop infrastructure and the centralized, server based computing gear - this is a change. From their perspective the answer is yes, they're going to need both. They're going to have centralized, traditional and hybrid.

Ruben Spruijt from PQR had several great sessions including his...

Community involvement isn’t a new thing to most of you, having migrated from the Juice. As your admin I prefer to stay behind the curtain and let you run the show while I sort out issues behind the scenes. But it seems that my role with Connect is a bit different now. Every now and again I need to draw your attention to something that you may not be award of or you may find interesting.

Firstly Congratulations for being the community with the longest name! Endpoint Management and Virtualization! If anything begs for an acronym that does! Since the Connect site launched our numbers have increased steadily and while I know some of you still miss Juice, you’ve found that Connect is a useful resource for help and information.

One feature that is new to us is the “solved” feature in forums. The is a great way to help others who may be searching for information find solutions when they find a post relating to the problem they may be having. Users...

Hi All – next week we’ll be seeing you at Citrix Synergy, at the MGM Grand, details below.

Brian Duckering, Senior Manager, Endpoint Virtualization, will be running a session and on a panel discussing The Future of Virtualization. As they say, “it’s going to be the future soon” so you probably don’t want to miss that.

Register to win a Garmin GPS, or come early while we still have Endpoint Virtualization t-shirts.

We still have a *couple* of 1:1 slots - ping me to schedule one at Or just stop by the booth to see how the solutions work across traditional, virtual and hybrid environments.

I’ve gotten a LOT of email asking if I’ll be at RSACONFERENCE this year, and although Symantec is very involved I will not see you there myself.

If you’ll be at the show I’d strongly recommend catching Enrique Salem’s keynote on Tuesday morning, and of course any of the sessions and panels with Symantec participation. For those of you specifically interested in security and endpoint virtualization I recommend HOST-401 with Ken Berryman, Senior Vice President, Strategy and Emerging Business. Ken’s session is called, “Leveraging Endpoint Virtualization for a More Flexible Computing Environment.”

The session is currently Friday, April 24 at 09:00AM in Purple 304, but I would double check with the online...
