A very useful and well known tool is the Windows Installer Cleanup utility (msicuu2.exe) that allows the removal of failed installations. Many people used this tool in case of a damaged installation using Windows Installer.

But there is a bad news, Microsoft has removed the Windows Installer Cleanup utility from its Download Center because it was discovered this tool could damage some components of the operating system installed on the  computer.

The good news is the availability in other websites like Softpedia at this link : Windows Installer CleanUp Utility 2.5.0.1

In the article " Dumb Windows 7 upgrade chart sparks spat " by Gregg Keizer published on Computerworld, there are many comment about a  chart Microsoft provided to a Wall Street Journal columnist.
This chart shows which versions of Windows and XP can be upgraded to Windows 7 without perform a "clean installation" , in other words a backup before the update and a restore to rebuild the user environment.

If you need to make a screenshot of a command lines but you don't have Windows running , the CmdCapture is the right tool for you.
There are several examples about how to use this tool, produce documentation for manuals, procedures or websites, or just print out a page with many errors during an installation ..

But the solution is CmdCapture , this free tool can be used in a command line to create a screenshot and save it in a png format (other format files available).
In case you have to save on a different folder the /d parameter can be used to specify another directory.

Parameters:

  • /f choose the output file type - png ( default ), jpg, bmp, tif, xpm
  • /h displays help on the command line parameters.

The Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 and Windows Vista Service Pack 2 has been released for x32 and x64 systems. This Release supports new hardware devices and additional software improvements.

In the previous release was available only 5 languages (English, French, German, Japanese and Spanish), see the post Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 and Windows Vista Service Pack 2 Released , now this package the service pack supports 36 languages.
