Hello, this is Randy Cook, CTO at FSLogix and the original inventor of SVS/SWV.  I am excited to let you know a little bit about what I've been working on and how it complements Symantec's virtualization product.

Here is a demo video that shows the products working together: http://youtu.be/fcITmXiuhKM

At FSLogix we've developed a product that controls application, plug-in, and add-in visibility dynamically by user.  This works seamlessly with Symantec's virtualization and streaming product.

Some of the use cases I can think of are:

- You want to deploy a virtualized application to a Citrix or RDS server, but you want to limit the visibility of the application to certain users.

- You want to deploy a virtualized application...

This video presentation from BriForums 16 Aug 2011 - can be found on BrianMadden.com

Presented by: Brian Duckering for Symantec Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) is the most sought after client computing technology of the past decade, due to the enormous potential benefits for IT. However many are finding that these advantages can come with increased costs and greater infrastructure complexity. Much of this comes from the dynamic nature of VDI, and its ability to be deployed, multiplied and recycled very easily and rapidly, and having to coexist with other computing models, like laptops, desktops and terminal servers. Endpoint Virtualization is rapidly becoming a standard component of successful VDI implementations. This session will discuss the specific technologies and methods that best...

One of the biggest issues facing IT today is user demand for greater mobility and increased personal choice in the devices they use. More and more employees are growing less willing to live with IT mandated devices. Choice is the new paradigm. On top of this, for many, their personal and business lives are coming together. Thus, our computing devices are increasingly being used for a blend of personal and business activities.

The massive proliferation of smart mobile devices has made this challenge – known as the consumerization of IT – more complicated. But it didn’t start there. It actually started a while ago with laptops and remote workers. Regardless, the issues are still the same: security and management. What smart mobile devices have added to the equation are many more platforms and operating systems to deal with, instead of just a single OS.

In a world where mobile devices are incredibly sophisticated, the risks surrounding these devices and...

I had the pleasure of participating in the latest Citrix Geek Speak event this past week.  Hosted by Shawn Bass, representatives from Citrix, Microsoft, VMware, Quest, and of course Symantec (me) all had an opportunity to respond to some of the most common concerns and issues around practical implementations of VDI.  This included a discussion of current challenges, as well as how each company was addressing them and what we thought it might look like in the future.

As Shawn indicated at one point, this was the first forum where every vendor participant agreed that there was not one single solution to address all ecosystems (a theme Symantec has promoted for years).  Among topics discussed were the viability of pooled hosted virtual desktops, user state management, “heavy” applications that may not work well in this environment, WAN performance, and more.

So in case you missed this discussion, the archive is available at the link...
