As a quick introduction, I am a product manager within the Symantec Information Management Group - specifically responsible for the File System Archiving component of Enterprise Vault.

We are always looking for input from our customers as to what they would like to see us developing next. One area that we've talked about internally for a while is that of Unix Archiving. By Unix Archiving I mean archiving content out of the Unix platform rather than an archiving application running on Unix. We would like to know whether you have demand for such an applicaton and if you do, what are the key features you would be looking for. If you are operating a unix environment, but not necessarily requiring Unix Archiving today, we would still like to hear from you to obtain environmental information.

Growth is a problem lots of companies would like to be dealing with right now. But it isn’t always easy to manage growth, especially growing your IT infrastructure to keep up with a fast-growing business.

This was a problem facing ENGlobal, an engineering firm that provides services to the energy sector. ENGlobal has experienced tremendous growth in recent years, both organically and through acquisitions.  As a result of this growth, the company ENGlobal had outsourced its backup operations to couldn’t keep up, causing backup costs to increase by 50 percent.
