I just wanted to give you an update on Enterprise Vault's Federal Information Processing Standard 140-2 (FIPS) compatibility. We've just updated the Enterprise Vault Compatibility Charts http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH38537 To indicate that EV 10.0.1 and above along with the existing EV 9.0.3 and above versions of the product are FIPS compatible.

What does this mean?

Any customer that requires a FIPS compatible version of EV can now upgrade to EV 10.0.1 or above (we'd always recommend the latest version available); if you're not aware of all the great EV 10 features, take a look at our why upgrade guide: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=DOC5617...

by Greg Muscarella, Senior Director, Product Management

Once again Gartner has named Symantec as a leader in the Enterprise Information Archiving magic quadrant.  We’ve continued to invest significantly in this market and it is gratifying to see the recognition for the continued effort we put into archiving both in the cloud and on premises with our Enterprise Vault.cloud and Enterprise Vault products. Symantec has now been rated a leader 9 years in a row.

This year marks a transition in a couple of regards.  We are seeing an acceleration of customers looking for the convenience and...

We’re pleased to announce that Enterprise Vault 10.0.1 is now available, the release notes are here.

We initially released V10 last August and have seen steady demand from customers who have downloaded and upgraded in the previous six months. However, with this first service pack now available we expect more of our customers to start planning their upgrades to take advantage of the major improvements in V10 but also the various incremental changes & fixes that have been rolled up into EV10.0.1.

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) issued Regulatory Notice 11-48 last month to request public comment on a proposed new rule requiring carrying/clearing organizations to maintain various records for FINRA, the SEC and the Securities Investor Protection Corporation.  If the new rule – proposed FINRA Rule 4516 (Readily Identifiable and Accessible Records) – is adopted by the SEC, it would provide additional justification for certain financial services companies to deploy automated archiving software such as Enterprise Vault to address the challenges of regulatory recordkeeping.

The purpose of proposed FINRA Rule 4516 is to protect investors in the event a clearing organization can no longer continue to operate due to financial or operational problems.  A clearing organization is an entity through which futures and other derivative transactions are cleared...

Is your organization among those that have jumped with both feet into the world of social media?

Recent survey results confirm that social media use is on the rise for almost all organizations across the globe.  This is particularly the case in the financial services industry.  A recent industry survey confirms that nearly two-thirds of all asset managers are actively using social media for marketing purposes.

Are you or your securities firm among those who have jumped with both feet into the world of social media marketing?

A recent industry survey confirms that nearly two-thirds of all asset managers were actively using social media for marketing purposes.  This is consistent with other contemporary survey results, which establish that social media use is on the rise for organizations across the globe.

Despite the rising popularity of social media in the securities industry, retention of social media content continues to haunt securities firms.  Indeed, 63% of surveyed asset managers reported that “regulatory recordkeeping”...
