Today we are announcing that Enterprise Vault.cloud supports journal archiving from Microsoft Exchange Server 2013, which is great news for our customers considering an upgrade to the new platform. It is also great news for organizations that may not have an archive in place yet, but are looking to add one to help streamline their migration process (more on that here), while meeting their long-term information retention requirements and eDiscovery needs.

Any time I discuss the migration process with a customer, the conversation almost always turns to ingestion, which makes sense (if you are taking it out of one place, you likely need to put it in another place, right?).

Archiving is a long-term commitment between a vendor and its customers.  If this relationship fails, as a customer, you are forced to look at new options and consider migrating to a new vendor.  Whether you are moving from one on-premise archive to another or going to the cloud, this process can appear daunting, however through the years we have watched customers go through the process successfully. Data volumes are exploding.  We see it all around us. The problem is that too much data can have a very negative impact on user productivity. Think about how long it takes to sift through emails after returning from vacation?  Consider how long it takes to complete a purchase on an Ecommerce sight on Black Friday?  The more data, the longer any of these processes take and the more time spent combing through more and more data.  The Informatica Application Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) team is working with Symantec and our customers to help them find ways to control the impact of ‘too much data’. We are pleased to announce the latest release of Enterprise Vault.cloud is now available!

Enterprise Vault.cloud joined the Symantec archiving family in June 2011. Since then, our team has been busily working to deliver consistent updates to our customers. There has been buzz around the water cooler about this quarter’s release for several months because it means we can now help our clients securely archive content beyond email, including files from Microsoft® SharePoint and Box as well as public and private messages and attachments posted on Salesforce® Chatter.

Improved eDiscovery and Storage Efficiency Begins with Effective Archiving

Here’s an interesting dilemma: What would you rather do – get your teeth cleaned at the dentist, or process a search request for your in-house Legal team?

On Monday, June 11, Symantec conducted a survey on the exhibit show floor during Microsoft TechEd North America 2012 in Orlando, FL. There, over 100 qualified respondents were asked a total of 18 questions surrounding their use of Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft Exchange Online/Office 365.

Surprisingly – or maybe not – over a third of respondents would rather get their teeth cleaned at the dentist than process a search request on email for their in-house Legal team.
