When I visit customers I often get asked about how they can help themselves and find out more about EV. I'm always happy to send them the various useful links which I know they'll find useful or even essential for keeping up to date with EV developments. So rather than have to copy paste this list each time I need to share it I thought I'd post it here for everyone to take advantage of and then I can also have a single URL added to my email signature which will reference this list. Having been involved in EV for so long I take it for granted that customers and partners can find this stuff easily but now they really can...I think the following is a great compendium of must know locations and hope you all find this to be of use.

Enterprise Vault v9 is on the horizon and the beta program is going to be starting shortly. Having customers beta test our releases complements our own in house QA testing and helps to ensure that a quality release is delivered. We have already asked for customers interested in testing the Exchange 2010 functionality to signup for the beta. I'm looking for any of our FSA customers that may be interested in signing up for the beta.

FSA v9 will be bringing much requested enhancements and performance improvements to FSAUtility (for placeholder migrations and bulk recall) and will improve the scaleability and performance of FSA Reporting.  We’re currently working very hard on full support of Microsoft Exchange 2010, at a level that our 13,000+ customers are used to and expect from us. Nevertheless, the questions are coming thick and fast about when and how Microsoft Exchange 2010 will be supported. We therefore decided that it’s time for an update, and here’s what we can tell you today:

1. We plan to release full support for Exchange 2010 with Enterprise Vault 9.0 
2. We plan to run a Beta program for EV 9.0 beginning in March this year* 
3. Following that, we plan to run a First Availability program prior to General Availability
4. Enterprise Vault 9.0 is currently on schedule to be available in May this year*

I'm pleased to say that a new document has been published by EMC about using Centera with Enterprise Vault, this is a collaborative paper that both EMC & Symantec worked on and is probably now the definitive reference guide for this topic.

We've just posted a video which presents an overview about Virtual Vault - what it is & what it looks like.

This will hopefully answer many of the questions that you might have about this feature, it's presented by Alex Brown (our Product Manager for EV Exchange)

Over the last couple of years, we have seen a high uptake of Enterprise Vault File System Archiving (FSA) amongst our install base. However, we have not been able to offer support for customers where Apple Mac systems need to access the archived files. That is, until now. I’m excited to detail our support for FSA and Mac systems through our partnership with Group Logic.

First of all some background to why we have not been able to support Mac systems as clients for FSA. When we create placeholders we set the CIFS ‘O’ Offline attribute. A Windows client knows to treat this file differently to non-archived files. Indeed, on seeing the ‘O’ attribute set, Windows will change the icon of the file so that you have a visual indicator that this is a pointer to the file which is now “somewhere else”. (On Windows  XP you will see a black clock symbol in the bottom left of the file icon. With Vista and Windows 7 you will see an ‘X...
