A question we frequently hear is, "what versions of X can we use with EV"

This applies to the whole variety of Microsoft products as well as the other dependent products used in EV environments. So if you didn't already know, we publish a compatibility guide each month which has a wealth of information about what will or will not work with EV .

So in future when you need to check a dependency or compatibility please make the following document your first point of call.

We're aware that this change perhaps wasn't made clear enough in the release notes so wanted to make sure you all understand what has been done & why. In summary,the  IgnoreArchiveBitTrigger.txt file can be used when a backup program can't use the archive bit (a value set on files to indicate it needs to be backed up).  For more info on the trigger file, refer to the "Backing up vault stores" section in the Admin Guide.

 

Before  V7 SP3 and  EV2007 SP1 the trigger file mechanism in EV only checked for the existence of the trigger file (IgnoreArchiveBitTrigger.txt) . If the file was found ,EV renamed it to IgnoreArchiveBitTrigger.old and processed all the outstanding Pending Icons (safety copies)  and changed them to full shortcuts.
