Symantec Connect Rewards membership and related benefits are offered at the sole discretion of Symantec Corporation (“Symantec”). Symantec retains the right to change, limit, modify or cancel program rules, regulations, rewards, and reward levels at any time, with or without notice, even though such changes may affect the value of points already accumulated, the ability to use accumulated points, or the ability to obtain rewards. Symantec may, among other things:

  • cancel the program without notice;
  • substantially increase or decrease the number of points required for a reward without notice;
  • withdraw, limit, modify, or cancel any reward;
  • change program benefits, conditions of participation, rules for earning, redeeming, retaining, or forfeiting points, or rules governing the use of rewards.

In recent weeks you may have noticed a few new colorful badges adorning various user contributions on the site.  Below is a brief explanation of the various badges and their meaning.


 - Admins are responsible for the general running on the site. They may move posts to the correct forums, help identify potential abuses on the site, and generally assist users.

Symantec Employee

 - Pretty self explanatory.

Trusted Advisor

 - The “Trusted Advisor” designation is given to an elite group of Symantec Connect community members who voluntarily share their expertise and experience with the Symantec Connect Community. Trusted Advisors are identified in the community with a special badge and are the front line of support for community users. Trusted Advisors are not Symantec employees. Trusted Advisors are not paid and offer up their expertise purely on a volunteer basis.

Hi all,

I wanted to thank you for this feedback (adding a new "Recent Activity" sort order to forum lists) and let you know we're going to roll this new sort option out to the production server this evening.

Cautionary note: To make this work, we're having to re-index the site (which takes several hours). During that time, the sort order will, indeed, be out of whack.

We hope to have the indexing completed at the latest by Sunday afternoon and at the earliest by Saturday morning (PST).

Symantec will be conducting a research study in June to gather feedback from Connect users who have also shopped in our online Business stores. The purpose of the research is to collect important, time-sensitive feedback, and by participating, you’ll allow Symantec to better meet your needs. 

Study method:

The research will be conducted via phone. Specifically, participants will provide their feedback via a 45-minute phone discussion. During the call, the moderator will share materials through a webcast for study participants to evaluate. Everyone who participates in the study will be paid for their time.

How to participate:

Symantec has commissioned Mozaic Group, an independent research firm, to conduct the interviews.

I read Simon Crosby’s post on ( with great interest.  Simon always has interesting things to say but I don’t always agree with him.  In this case I agree that moving to the cloud can enhance the protection of one’s data but it is by no means a forgone conclusion. 

Putting data in the cloud requires putting one’s trust in the cloud provider.  Sophisticated cloud providers who focus on protecting their customers’ assets can indeed provide better security than most enterprises can provide themselves.  On the other hand, moving to the cloud can create governance problems.  Many companies find that they use multiple cloud providers, each with their own policies and procedures.   How is a CIO,  CISO or even a small business owner supposed to...

  • Refactored the forum list pages to look and act more like list pages on traditional forums.
  • Added a filter to the global event calendar (/connect/calendar) so users can choose to view all events or only those events that are associated with user groups.
  • Added the ability to post polls to group pages.
  • Resolved an issue where public posts tagged for a group were being saved as private posts.
  • Added an iCalendar meeting file to event confirmation and reminder emails.
  • Added a link to group landing pages that allow group admins to add members to their groups.
