I am tired of trying to contact a person at Symantec or clicking on "Help", and getting nothing but computer generated responses, that usually have nothing to do with my problem.  Symantec purposely avoids supplying any Support Hotline because they want noone to ever call them with an actual problem.  The program has been, for the past 10 years, seemingly better than MacAfee, or any others that I've heard of, but the Customer Service is truly LOUSY!

At first I was bummed out when the catalog went away boo hoo no cruise. Then I looked at Amazon and realized how sweet this deal is. I had over 25000 points so I shopped a lot which is great since I like to shop. First I got some "Pergo flooring" to redo the dining room and living room in my home. Then I purchased a new gas range for the kitchen. I got a Wii fit system, an IPOD for my son, a blue ray DVD player, a reciprocating saw, a scan tool for car repairs my husband wanted this stuff. One dual 9” DVD gaming system for my daughters' car, 2 mongoose bicycles for my grandsons, a Sony 12.1 mega pixel digital camera, some mineral makeup, advantage for the dog, a couple of memory sticks one for the camera and one for a gaming system, an extra Wii controller. The Fedex and UPS drivers were delivering to my house like it was Christmas which by the way I have covered with all my purchases. Thanks Symantec I got a bonus this year just by submitting some articles and...

Don’t fall victim to piracy, educate yourself to protect yourself.

PIRACY CAN COST YOU YOUR IDENTITY!

Pirated software is more likely to contain spyware, which after installation can steal personal and confidential information (for example credit card, bank account, passwords, address book information, etc.) from your computer without your knowledge. Stolen information can be exploited immediately through pirated software by identity thieves.

PIRACY CAN COST YOU YOUR COMPUTER!

Pirated software can make your computer more vulnerable to virus attacks which can lead to loss of irreplaceable files or corruption to other software on your computer. In some cases, pirated software can lead to the destruction of your computer by permanently damaging the hard drive or other components.

Here are a few warning signs:

Too good to be true pricing:

I’m at Xchange 2009 today with several Symantec partners and the theme of this year’s event is “Reinvention”. In today’s business landscape, reinvention is vital to the viability of a company. The ability to find opportunities in any situation can be a company’s greatest strength. Self-analysis followed by innovation and improvement is the essence of reinvention. Solution providers today have a great opportunity to leverage efficiencies, adopt new skills and make wise investments to drive return on investment.

Bravely embracing new opportunities for reinvention and increasing investments in what’s working now can have a significant impact on a solution provider’s business. Solution providers can ensure success by implementing the following suggestions:
• Identify emerging market opportunities
• Assess your strengths
• Ensure you understand your customers
• Define what it will take to acquire customers and retain them

Along with reinvention...

Wishing you all a Happy Sys Admin Day from the Symantec Connect community team! And to not be too rigid, Happy Storage Admin, Server Admin, and DBA Day, too! July 31, 2009 marks the 10th Annual System Administrator Appreciation Day. We thought that was about the best celebration we could imagine, given that this is pretty much all we talk about day and night on the Symantec Connect site. And of course, we think it's worth more than a day--so we're giving you the whole weekend.

So we thought that in appreciation for all the last-minute, late-night projects that you've survived in the past year,  we'd toss out some reward points for some good stories. Tell us about your biggest meltdown, how you saved the day on a project, or send us a photo of your wildest wiring job in the comments below. We'll give 3 of you a passle of extra reward points (probably even enough for a...
