Brian de la Pascua is a data center specialist working in the Storage and Availability Management Group. He started with Veritas twelve years ago as a Netbackup Engineer, then moved onto the Storage Foundation and High Availability products. Application virtualization is a great way to run non-native programmes on your computer, or to test unstable software versions without putting your computer at risk. Now, thanks to a bit of software made by Adam Moore from University of California, Merced, using a virtualized application can be even faster and easier than it was before.

Virtual Application Manager (VAM) allows easy management of virtualized applications. It is an administrative tool, using a clear, intuitive interface to simplify control of layers over a network. For more information on application virtualization, see the ‘Software Virtualization’ section of our welcome post. The remote machines must be running either SVS (Software Virtualization Solution) or the upgraded version, SWV (Symantec Workspace Virtualization).
