I'm very pleased to announce that the next Release Update for NetBackup 52x0 Appliances is now available!

NetBackup 5200/5220 Appliances 2.5.2 Release Update is the equivalent Appliance patch release to NetBackup 7.5.0.5.

It is a cumulative release containing fixes and content from 7.5.0.1 through 7.5.0.4. In addition, this release contains an additional 400 fixes (bringing the total fixes in 7.5.0.5 to over 1100!) including the most commonly downloaded EEBs, several customer escalations, and internal engineering defects.

In addition to including all of the fixes in NetBackup 7.5.0.5, Appliance 2.5.2 contains:  

  • Improvements in Hardware Supportability
    • More resource status & usage monitoring
    • Way to acknowledge alerts
    • Monitor behavioral patterns in MSDP
    • Bug fixes/EEBs specific to SORT/Call home

I'm very pleased to announce that the next Maintenance Release for NetBackup 7.5 is now available!

NetBackup 7.5.0.5 is the fifth maintenance release for NetBackup 7.5.  It is a cumulative release containing fixes and content from 7.5.0.1 through 7.5.0.4. In addition, this release contains almost 400 additional fixes (bringing the total fixes in 7.5.0.5 to over 1100!) including the most commonly downloaded EEBs, several customer escalations, and internal engineering defects.

NetBackup 7.5.0.5 includes the following proliferations and enhancements:

  • vSphere 5.1 Support - Consuming VDDK 5.0 U1
  • VMware backup host is now supported on the following operating systems:
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.5 x64
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.3 x64
  • Bare Metal Restore is now supported on the following operating systems:
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.8
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.3

I'm very pleased to announce that the next Maintenance Release for NetBackup 7.5 and Release Update for NetBackup 52x0 Appliances is now available!

NetBackup 7.5.0.4 is the fourth maintenance release for NetBackup 7.5.  It is a cumulative release containing fixes and content from 7.5.0.1 through 7.5.0.3. In addition, this release contains an additional 315 fixes (bringing the total fixes in 7.5.0.4 to over 700!) including the most commonly downloaded EEBs, several customer escalations, and internal engineering defects.

The simultaneously released NetBackup 5200/5220 Appliances 2.5.1 Release Update is the equivalent Appliance patch release to NetBackup 7.5.0.4.

The significant content of NetBackup 7.5.0.4 is:  

  • No new features in 7.5.0.4.  However, some features that were delivered in previous maintenance releases are included:

NetBackup 7.5.0.3, a software only Maintenance Release, is the third maintenance release for NetBackup 7.5. It is a cumulative release containing fixes and content from 7.5.0.1 (software-only) and 7.5.0.2 (appliance-only). In addition, this release contains fixes to over 325 issues including the most commonly downloaded EEBs, several customer escalations, and internal engineering defects. The significant content of this release is:

  • Solaris 11 master server, Bare Metal Restore server and OpsCenter Managed Server support
  • No new features in 7.5.0.3.  However, some features that were delivered in previous maintenance releases are included:          
    • NetBackup for VMware on SLES – delivered in 7.5.0.2
    • PureDisk seeding utility – delivered in 7.5.0.2

I'm very pleased to announce that the first Maintenance Release for NetBackup 7.5 is now available!

NetBackup 7.5.0.1 has been released in response to the feedback received during NetBackup 7.5 First Availability program. This release contains selective critical fixes to:

  • Replication Director
  • Catalog
  • Virtualization
  • Other critical miscellaneous fixes across NetBackup product

NetBackup 7.5.0.1 contains resolutions from over 40 Etracks, including content of several EEB (emergency engineering binary) bundles.

I'm very pleased to announce that a new Maintenance Release for NetBackup 7.1 is now available!

NetBackup 7.1.0.4 is fourth and final maintenance release for NetBackup 7.1.  It is a cumulative release - which means it includes all previous fixes from the 7.1.0.1, 7.1.0.2 and 7.1.0.3 maintenance releases.  In addition, this release contains fixes to overall 250 issues including most commonly downloaded EEBs, several customer escalations and internal engineering defects.

The significant contents of this release are:

  • Server side Auto Image Rebasing for better data locality and improved rehydration/restore performance
  • Resiliency improvements to address common issues and avoid RecoverCR runs as much possible, RecoverCR Lite tool to reduce downtime, Optimized Duplication (Opt-Dup) bandwidth throttling improvements

I'm very pleased to announce that NetBackup 7.5 is now available!

The marquee features of NetBackup 7.5 include:
  • Replication Director

    This feature offers a unified, policy-based management of backups, snapshots and replication.

    NetApp Plug-in for Symantec NetBackup Replication Director” and an hotfix for NetBackup 7.5. Both will be available beginning mid-March 2012. The hotfix for NetBackup will be available on Symantec support web site and the plug-in will be available on the NetApp NOW Site.

I'm very pleased to announce that a new Maintenance Release for NetBackup 7.1 is now available!

NetBackup 7.1.0.3 is the third maintenance release on NetBackup 7.1.  This release contains several new proliferations as listed below:

  • Support for vSphere5
  • Support for SharePoint 2010 SP1 and Exchange 2010 SP2
  • Client support for Mac 10.7
  • Master and media support for AIX 7.1
  • NBSL changes to gather hardware information from appliance media servers attached to NBU7.1.x master servers

Along with above mentioned proliferations, several customer issues and internal engineering defects were fixed covering:

In addition to many bug fixes, NetBackup 7.1.0.2 contains several changes that can improve restore performance and rehydration performance. This feature offers the following enhancements:
