I’m thrilled to share that three executives here at Symantec – May Mitchell, Tricia Atchison and Sue Fossnes – have been recognized by CRN for its 2014 “Women of the Channel” list. CRN’s annual list highlights the accomplishments of female executives within vendor, distribution and solution provider organizations, and the impact they are having on the advancement of the IT channel industry as a whole. Additionally, May and Tricia were selected to be a part of CRN’s “Power 100,” the top 100 most powerful women in the channel.

May Mitchell has helped to champion Symantec’s transformation toward a partner-centric model. As Symantec’s Vice President for North America Marketing, she has taken a market-led approach in the development of new market-pull and market-push campaigns and programs, product roadmaps and enablement tools to support our key priorities. This year, May is helping to lead the charge with our...

Earlier this year, more than 800 ChannelPro Network readers cast their votes for the most partner- and SMB-friendly products, technologies, services, programs and professional organizations in the channel. Today, I’m happy to share that we won awards in three categories in the ChannelPro Readers’ Choice awards. We are off to a great start in our new fiscal year. As we’ve entered the transition period for our redesigned Partner Program, we’re working on developing new tools and assets to support our partner community. We want to empower you – our partners – with the resources you need to reach your goals.

New Sales Playbooks

We’ve recently introduced two new sales playbooks: Selling Information Management (IM) Sales and Information Security (IS) Solutions Sales. These new playbooks have been developed with input from senior Symantec sales leaders in every geography. They’re powerful tools designed to help you identify new opportunities, prepare your approach, cross-sell solutions and increase your deal size. Our playbooks are organized around plays that align to our go-to-market priorities and focus on the most common customer problems we address. Inside you’ll find a number of good resources you can use to take your value propositions to your customers....

This afternoon, we announced the winners of our second annual Global Partner Excellence Awards. These awards recognize our global partners for their commitment to driving business success and positively contributing to their customers, the partner community and Symantec. This year’s winners were selected for excellence in three key categories: Innovation, Growth and Collaboration.

The Symantec Innovation Award was presented to Accenture for demonstrating unique leadership in developing solutions that addressed specific customer needs. These solutions also raised the value of our technology to the next level in scope and capabilities. Accenture created a joint offering that provided customers with analytics to create business outcome-specific security intelligence, effective visualization techniques on mobile devices to show real-time security metrics, and improved information protection posture insight to become proactive instead of reactive.

Deloitte...

At Vision, Symantec’s annual user and technical conference, I had the opportunity to speak with many of our channel partners and share more details regarding our redesigned Partner Program. As Symantec continues to grow as a company, we’re planning some exciting changes.

Today, we’re unveiling 12 new Symantec Solution Competencies. These new Competencies give partners the choice to deepen their expertise in a particular solution area, or to extend their capabilities across multiple solutions for broader market traction. By achieving a Symantec Competency, partners demonstrate their insight, experience and solutions-expertise – crucial when solving their customers’ unique business challenges.

We’re also investing more in our partners than ever before. In the October timeframe, partners will have access to richer rewards, based on capability, performance and commitment to delivering value to customers. Through the...

On May 20th, we will be making a few changes to the PartnerNet page for our Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition 2013 product. First, you will notice that the product name will change to “Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition”. We are removing “2013” from the name in order to help eliminate customer perceptions that the product is outdated. This change will also better reflect the fact that this product is sold primarily as a cloud service and therefore is always up to date. Please note that the SKUs and Buying Programs will not be changed.

Secondly, we have refreshed core collateral for this product with stronger messaging to help you better position this popular solution to your customers:

  • 2013 has been removed from the name in the new materials to reflect that this is a version-less product.
  • Our new messaging focuses primarily on the popular cloud-managed deployment and customers with growing businesses...

I’m excited to announce that today Symantec was selected by CRN as a 5-star Partner Program Guide Winner in recognition of Symantec’s superior partner program and the support we offer our channel partners. This is just the latest in a string of recent award wins that highlight the focused commitment we’ve made in the past several months to better support the way our partners do business through our redesigned Partner Program.

I’m very proud of the hard work that has gone into our Partner Program. Additional recent achievements include:

CRN Channel Chiefs: In late February, my colleague Garrett Jones, Vice President of Global Channel Operations, and I were honored as CRN Channel Chiefs. This was a tremendous honor and...

Hi all,

I am sharing a video from Bloomberg, where Symantec Chief Operating Officer Stephen Gillett discusses online security threats, a very important topic today. He speaks with Emily Chang and Cory Johnson on Bloomberg Television’s “Bloomberg West.” (Source: Bloomberg)  Perhaps a great tool to share with our customers.

In our daily activities, our team is so focused on keeping our partners and customers safe that we sometimes need to take a step back to look at the larger security trends and anticipate any new threats on the horizon. For this reason, Symantec’s latest Internet Security Threat Report (ISTR), Volume 19 provides a snapshot of the current global threat landscape, helping to pinpoint where companies need to focus their energy.

This year’s ISTR shows that we’re now living in the era of the “Mega Data Breach.” According to our latest report, the total number of data breaches increased 62 percent, amounting to more than 552 million records exposed. In fact, the top eight breaches exposed more than 10 million identities. These breaches often exposed real names, birth dates and/or government ID numbers (e.g. social security numbers). Some records also exposed other highly sensitive...
