I’m pleased to announce the appointment of Donna O’Hear to the position of Senior Director, North America, Vertical Channels. In this role, Donna will bring her expertise to help lead Symantec’s channel efforts in the federal, state and local government, healthcare and education markets. This afternoon, we announced the winners of our second annual Global Partner Excellence Awards. These awards recognize our global partners for their commitment to driving business success and positively contributing to their customers, the partner community and Symantec. This year’s winners were selected for excellence in three key categories: Innovation, Growth and Collaboration.

The Symantec Innovation Award was presented to Accenture for demonstrating unique leadership in developing solutions that addressed specific customer needs. These solutions also raised the value of our technology to the next level in scope and capabilities. Accenture created a joint offering that provided customers with analytics to create business outcome-specific security intelligence, effective visualization techniques on mobile devices to show real-time security metrics, and improved information protection posture insight to become proactive instead of reactive.

At Vision, Symantec’s annual user and technical conference, I had the opportunity to speak with many of our channel partners and share more details regarding our redesigned Partner Program. As Symantec continues to grow as a company, we’re planning some exciting changes.

Today, we’re unveiling 12 new Symantec Solution Competencies. These new Competencies give partners the choice to deepen their expertise in a particular solution area, or to extend their capabilities across multiple solutions for broader market traction. By achieving a Symantec Competency, partners demonstrate their insight, experience and solutions-expertise – crucial when solving their customers’ unique business challenges.

On May 20th, we will be making a few changes to the PartnerNet page for our Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition 2013 product. First, you will notice that the product name will change to “Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition”. We are removing “2013” from the name in order to help eliminate customer perceptions that the product is outdated. This change will also better reflect the fact that this product is sold primarily as a cloud service and therefore is always up to date. Please note that the SKUs and Buying Programs will not be changed.

Secondly, we have refreshed core collateral for this product with stronger messaging to help you better position this popular solution to your customers:

  • 2013 has been removed from the name in the new materials to reflect that this is a version-less product.
  • Our new messaging focuses primarily on the popular cloud-managed deployment and customers with growing businesses...
