    Cybergeddon

I live in a city whose motto is “Culver City, The Heart of Screenland.” “Gone with the Wind,” “Citizen Kane” and “Raging Bull” were filmed here. It’s estimated that 1 in 8 residents of Culver City work in the entertainment business. Culver City is also home to one of the largest computer security research centers in the world. That’s where I work. What I know of about the movie industry I learned from the big screen and in the papers. There really hasn’t been any cross-pollination, any intermingling between the two industries. Till now. In March, Anthony E. Zuiker, the man behind the “CSI” franchise, announced that he was creating a motion picture called, “Cybergeddon.” He called “Cybergeddon” an “evolution in the crime genre”. And he announced that he would be partnering with Norton to leverage our “technical credibility and...

The holiday season is a special time of year for people from so many walks of life. For many, among the most appealing joys of the season is taking time off from work to spend with loved ones. In fact, analyst firm IDC estimates that by year’s end new mobile device shipments will have increased by 55 percent. Another analyst firm, Gartner, predicts that by the end of 2010, 1.2...

    Protecting More and More Endpoints

Switzerland has always seemed like a calm, safe place to me. It seems kind of aloof from the digital hullabaloo of nations like China or Russia or even the US.  So it wasn’t all that surprising when I read that security threats in Switzerland have historically been lower than in these other nations. But as phishing and hacking go global, no country is safe from security threats—especially a country with targets as prosperous as Switzerland’s.    Pharmaceutical company Tecan Trading AG may not be a Swiss bank—but it needs security just as robust as if it were. Click here to learn how Tecan uses Symantec Endpoint Protection to keep its endpoints safe worldwide.
