We're counting down to VMworld 2010! This is an exciting conference for Symantec to be part of this year, as we'll be unveiling some exciting new technology that extends VWare vCenter to provide application-level awareness and control for a wide range of mission-critical applications.

We've got lots of technical sessions to share information with our community, as well as a booth where you can drop by and see our products live in action and talk with product experts about the challenges of availability, storage, data protection, and security that virtualization addresses. We want to hear your stories as well, and find out what you're doing. Of course, a technology conference doesn't have to be all about technology, so we're throwing a party for our customers, have a game show planned, and of course will be giving away lots of cool prizes.

Here are just a few of the sessions, events and activities where you'll be sure to find us....

Symantec Super Session at VMworld 2009: Wednesday, September 2 at 10:00 AM

Of course I may be a little biased because I will be presenting, but there are a lot of reasons why you should make Symantec’s Super Session a priority during your VMworld 2009 experience

Steve Morton, Vice President of Product Marketing, and myself will present on strategies and best practice around pain points customers have faced during virtualization deployments

Steve has threatened to change the format on me, live on stage, and I am hoping this isn’t true. However, he is known to be a joker so I guess I will just have to wait and see what happens

Our goal is to share examples of how others have solved complex virtualization problems. You will see how a municipality in Florida was able to reduce a half-day virtual machine recovery to 15 minutes. This cut their backup time by 96% using Symantec solutions. Data protection and storage management...

As a quick introduction, I am a product manager within the Symantec Information Management Group - specifically responsible for the File System Archiving component of Enterprise Vault.

We are always looking for input from our customers as to what they would like to see us developing next. One area that we've talked about internally for a while is that of Unix Archiving. By Unix Archiving I mean archiving content out of the Unix platform rather than an archiving application running on Unix. We would like to know whether you have demand for such an applicaton and if you do, what are the key features you would be looking for. If you are operating a unix environment, but not necessarily requiring Unix Archiving today, we would still like to hear from you to obtain environmental information.

To help us gather this information, we are conducting a short survey which should take 15-20 minutes to complete. If you do have an interest in this topic, we would very...

This document is not listed on the IBM web site so i have attached it here (hope the mods will let it stay)

It details the LTO drive status codes and there true meaning. We all have seen the Media errors from Netbackup, backupexec, and so forth. This document details what you see from the web gui of a 3500 series tape library or maybe you have another gui accessing this information. Either way i hope you get some good use out of it. I know i have.
