Hello Connect Users,

If you attended the Vision Conference last month, you learned about the latest in storage management and high availability / disaster recovery (HA/DR) technologies that Symantec is offering.  Of course, if you were on-site it is difficult to make it to all of the sessions, so we have videos available from several of the presentations that you may watch on-demand.  If you were not able to make it to Vegas, now is a great chance to see these sessions at your fingertips.  Here is a listing of the available videos:

Here are some photos from my favorite moments at Vision. As a Connect community manager, Vision conference was a great chance for me to meet community members, put profile names to faces, and have the opportunity to meet Marianne, our Trusted Advisor, in person. Thanks to all of you who stopped by the Internet lounge and Connect booth to introduce yourselves. What a great week!

Anyone else have any stories or photos to share from the conference? If you missed the conference, check out the Vision community on Connect, as well.

The Storage and Availability Management Group (SAMG) at Symantec wants to hear from you!  Were you a part of the decision making team to purchase one or more SAMG products, such as Veritas Storage Foundation, Veritas Cluster Server, Veritas CommandCentral or Symantec FileStore? Or, where you a part of the decision making team to vote against purchasing a SAMG product? If so, we’d like to hear why you voted yea or nay. This is a quick process (as little as 20-30 minutes), and for your valuable input, you’ll be entered into an exclusive raffle to win a 16 GB Wi-Fi enabled Apple iPad!

To participate, simply send an email to Cheryl Young (cheryl_young@symantec.com) to schedule a short call. This call will not be a sales call by any means, but rather an opportunity for you to share why you bought or decided not to buy our products. Sign up today, tell your story and enter to win a new 16GB Wi-Fi...

We've completed the work to merge the existing Storage Management and Clustering & Replication communities into a single community area. Since Connect launched last March, a good number of the storage posts and content have spanned the two communities. We realize that this means that many of you have been tracking content from both areas, and hope that this improvement will make it easier and faster for you to find and share information about Storage and High Availability products.

So what's new?  A Storage & Clustering community that includes Storage Foundation, Storage Foundation for Windows, Cluster Server, Cluster Server One, CommandCentral, FileStore, Volume Replicator, and SFHA Management Tool product information, all in one community. How will this help you? You won't see duplicated content between the two communities. You won't have to go to two communities to view product forums. We will have technical expertise regarding Storage and High...

Finding ways to substantially cut costs and complexity in an active, vibrant Data Centre is not easy. CIO’s have spent years trimming here and there and, to many, further demand from the business to reduce CAPEX/OPEX can seem like asking the impossible.

Nonetheless, significant additional reductions and effeciencies can be made possible where companies take a broader look at the way IT serves the business in a broad context. Key to this approach is the bringing together of “IT” and “Business” people in a combined effort to rationalise applications, processes, core infrastructure and operations. I have recently facilitated “IT/Business Alignment” workshops, forced both sides of the house to work together productively and have been amazed as to the opportunities that drop out of this exercise.  Well managed and facilitated workshops are a great way from stakeholders to express ideas, test theory and find “1+1=3...
