A note to VOS users (now called SORT)

Late last year, we changed the name of Veritas Operations Services (VOS) to Symantec Operations Readiness Tools (SORT) [http://sort.symantec.com]  and we enhanced the site to help new users understand more about the available features. 

As you’ve likely seen, the main SORT webpage is geared toward educating new users about SORT features and functions. 

For previous VOS users, we suggest going directly to the MySORT page (http://mysort.symantec.com).  MySORT is the old VOS home page with a few minor changes.  You’ll see a color template difference but the old VOS functionality is still there including enhancements based on previously received feedback.

Clustering over a single link

We have received requests from customers to form a cluster with nodes which have only one link. This article discusses on how to setup a cluster with one link.

When LLT is configured with one link, GAB reports jeopardy membership. By default GAB requires a node to be connected by atleast two links for a full membership. There is an option in GAB which will supress the jeopardy membership when nodes are configured with only one link. 

gabconfig -s

The -s option means SINGLE NETWORK. This configures GAB to run with one link so that it does not report jeopardy memberships. This option has to be added in /etc/gabtab on all nodes where LLT is configured with one link.  This option is applicable to all supported platforms SOLARIS, AIX, HP-UX and Linux
