Maine Medical Center

Maine Medical Center is expanding its services to include virtualizing servers and protecting data at remote sites throughout the state. This brought new challenges in disaster recovery and data protection. The IT team turned to Symantec. Results include:

  • Shortening the recovery time objective (RTO) from several weeks to two hours.
  • Reducing backup time by up to 10-fold.
  • Lowering the storage footprint 90 percent.

A friend of mine was lucky enough to backpack through Europe after college, and she wound up on the Italian island of Sardinia. Sardinia has some of Europe’s rockiest and most beautiful coastline, and also some of its oldest ruins, which go back at least 7,000 years.

Like all island dwellers, Sardinians know they must make the most of the resources they have, and that goes for Tiscali S.p.A., a telephone operator, ISP, and B2B services provider headquartered there. So when rapid growth started straining resources, Tiscali implemented Veritas Storage Foundation—and upped storage utilization to 80 percent.
