Service Pack 1 for Veritas Storage Foundation & High Availability Solutions 5.1 for Windows provides new and updated application and operating system support. This service pack provides support for Microsoft Windows server 2008 R2, Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2 Hyper-V, and Microsoft Windows 7 (client support) as well as Microsoft Exchange 2007 SP2, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 SP1, Microsoft SharePoint 2007, Symantec Enterprise Vault 8, and many other updates.

New Features, Functionality, and Highlights:
Windows Server 2008 R2 support
SFW and SFW HA introduce support for the following Editions and platforms of Windows Server 2008 R2:

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 (x64): Web, Standard, Enterprise, Datacenter Editions
  • Windows Server 2008 R2 for Itanium-based Systems (IA64)

Finding ways to substantially cut costs and complexity in an active, vibrant Data Centre is not easy. CIO’s have spent years trimming here and there and, to many, further demand from the business to reduce CAPEX/OPEX can seem like asking the impossible.

Nonetheless, significant additional reductions and effeciencies can be made possible where companies take a broader look at the way IT serves the business in a broad context. Key to this approach is the bringing together of “IT” and “Business” people in a combined effort to rationalise applications, processes, core infrastructure and operations. Symantec is proud to announce the launch of Veritas Operations Services 2.0 (VOS 2.0). This release is a culmination of months of development based on customer feedback, and represents a significant step forward in the overall value that Veritas Storage Foundation, Veritas Storage Foundation for Windows and Veritas Cluster Server customers can expect to receive from VOS.

Veritas Installation Assessment Service [VIAS]

  • Combined Notification Center – Users can create user defined ad-hoc or environment specific notifications for new patches, ASL/APM releases, new versions of the HCL and updates to Veritas Operations Services (VOS) from one easy-to-use web application. Both the notification center and VIAS reports now connect directly with Patch Central allowing the applications to synergistically cross-leverage customer data
  • Windows Support (Beta) – Support for the SFWHA “ConfigChecker” application to pre-qualify Windows environments
