Updates deployed to the Connect production servers as a result of the code sprint that ended 27 May 2014.

User Facing: Desktop

  • Added code to notifications emails so they would properly display images that are embedded by authors in their posts.
  • Retooled forums to support a 'product > subproduct' organization style in addition to the legacy 'product > version' style.
  • Tuned the user interface of the rich-text editor for consistency.
  • Added code to the translation interface so it would, by default, retain the original author and the original publish date when a post is translated by someone other than the author at at some time other than the original posting.

Beginning June 1, 2014 we will no longer be awarding points for comments posted to the Symantec Connect site-- this includes comments on forum discussions, blogs, and any other kinds of content posted on Symantec Connect. (Comments have previously been awarded at the rate of 1 point per comment.) In addition, the number of points awarded for a verified solution to a forum discussion will increase from 35 points to 50 points. All other points for content will remain the same.

We believe that this creates an incentive for all Symantec Connect users to provide thoughtful, useful feedback on the site. In addition, this will help minimize any "comments for points" behaviors that may be occuring.

As always, we thank you for your participation on the Connect community.

Updates deployed to the Connect production servers as a result of the code sprint that ended 01 April 2014.

User Facing: Desktop

  • Fixed an issue that was causing unauthenticated users to see an incorrect vote count on posts because pages with votes were not being cleared from the Akamai caches when a vote was cast.
  • Fixed and issue in post-by-email groups that was sending email notifications to users who were not group members.
  • Gave group administrators the ability to restrict posting across groups. If a group admin enables the "disable cross posting" feature for Group A, users will not be allowed to submit a post to Group A and Group B. When a user attempts to post to a restricted group and any other group(s), they will be asked to choose which group(s) the post should be removed from.
  • Modified our voting code and some other snippets to handle database save requests from anonymous users;...

Updates deployed to the Connect production servers as a result of the code sprint that ended 18 March 2014.

User Facing: Desktop

  • Added the ability for blog administrators to enable a feature that exposes new links in the bottom of the "About this blog" box. "Follow this blog" adds an email subscription to your profile so you'll be notified, via email, whenever new blog posts are published to the target blog.
  • Upgraded the rich-text editor. This updated version of the editor gives our design team greater control over what user-submitted formatting is accepted -- an important feature as we evolve the Connect experience into one that's responsive to different viewing devices.
  • Fixed an issue with missing bullets on sidebar lists that appear on blog pages.
  • Fixed an Omniture bug that will allow us to more closely...
