If you haven’t heard about or used Veritas Operations Services, you’re in for a treat.  Symantec analyzed the most time consuming, support-related issues and created a set of services to address them head on!  Veritas Operations Services is a website ( that every Storage Foundation customer should use;

  • Prior to every installation and upgrade (soon, including NetBackup!)
  • Repeatedly (daily, weekly, monthly) to assess risk and configuration drift
  • Periodically (monthly, quarterly, yearly) to establish product and license inventory and usage

You can also use the site for self-help.  We’ve centralized almost all Support and product-related information on the site to help you with patches, documentation, error codes, advanced searching, ASLs, and HCLs.

Based on feedback we’ve received from thousands of Storage Foundation...

In a word, how many have I attended? ALL!

And I have the pins to prove it!

My favorite memory would have to be Paul Sallabary dropping in on a rope during the kick off of VeriCon99.

And who could forget the first VERITAS User Conference in 1997 with something like 300 persons attending.

Then there was Vison 2002 where the grand prize was a driving class at a professional driving school.
And a shrink wrapped T-shirt in the shape of a Porsche 911.

Looking forward to VISION 2010!!

In a few weeks Vision will start and we are preparing our demo's right now.
Where are going to do a break out session with Doug Coombs and we are going to do several Packaging demo's, and VDI demo's in the Internet Lounge.
Symantec is bringing in a lot of bean bags, so grab one and visit us.

The shows will be done by me and my collegeau Mike Jansen who is also having his last few day's as a single man in Vegas.
So if you have a chance, drop by to congratulate him.
Don't worry who he is.
We will make sure that everybody will know who the man is.

He probably will not talk to me for weeks, but what's new.

We’re looking to find those loyal customers and partners who have attended the most Vision and/or ManageFusion events. Of course, if you’re a Symantec employee or sponsor, that doesn’t count. We’ve got some very cool prizes up for grabs for those who participate in this contest! Here’s the details of what you should post in the comments below to be entered:

  • The years that you attended Vision and/or ManageFusion – give us the year and the location if you can remember that far back
  • Your favorite memory from those conferences – great keynotes, travel mishaps, favorite presenters, product launches, etc.
  • We’d really like to see any artifacts that you may still have from past Vision or ManageFusion conferences (program guides, lanyards, spiffs, etc. - any t-shirts in use from the last decade?) So, power up that camera and post a photo or two of your stuff! (To see how to upload an image,...

Make sure you stick around for an exciting closing keynote session on Thursday, April 15, when Bear Grylls takes the stage to cap off the Vision 2010 conference. Notorious for his Discovery Channel survival show, "Man vs. Wild", Bear has shown on many occasions that he knows how to take control of whatever situation he finds himself in.

Bear is a man who has always loved adventure. After breaking his back in three places in a parachuting accident, he fought his way to recovery, and two years later entered the Guinness Book of Records as the youngest Briton to climb Mount Everest, aged only 23. He has since led groundbreaking expeditions across the world.

But for Bear, it is not just about pushing his limits. It's about overcoming challenges, and living your dreams. This belief, and Bear's gift for communication, has led him to become a world-class motivational speaker, author, and TV host....

Not only is being “green” eco-friendly, it makes good business sense. But building a business case for Green IT initiatives typically requires more than a socially conscious organization; it requires a demonstration of tangible results. So we’ve rounded up a group of industry leaders that have done just that. You’ll want to hear what these guys have to say! Hosted by Jose Iglesias (VP in Symantec’s CTO Office), you’ll hear great solutions on how to move your IT toward a greener solution—while still improving the corporate bottom line. Specifically, you’ll hear how green IT initiatives have helped drive substantial power reductions, thus cutting carbon footprints, in addition to operational efficiency improvements, cost avoidance, productivity gains, and cost savings. It’s a win-win!

Speakers: Paul Ferraro, IT Director, Qualcomm, Michael Taylor, IT Manager, Renault F1 Team, Jake Player, President, TechTurn,...

Let’s hear it for getting your information growth and storage costs in check! You know the projected growth stats, facts, and percentages of your organization's electronic information– you also know how little new budget (if any) you are given to keep up with this information growth and making sure it's all available, searchable, and usable.  Sometimes it might seem easier to just keep everything forever or even to put in place a really aggressive deletion policy - but are you aware of the available solutions that will help you keep only the information you need for only the appropriate amount of time while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and your own governance policies?

If improving your backups, eliminating mailbox quotas, reducing duplicate and old information from consuming your storage, and enabling fast and efficient e-discovery sounds interesting to you, you'll want...
