At Search Engine Strategies in New York City last year I was interviewed by Patti Simone of WomenCentric and Marketing-Advantage.net. Patti posted the video, in which I explain VeriSign Seal-in-Search and show a heat map of real search results. It's a pretty crisp description of Seal-in-Search, and the pictures are helpful, but do try to ignore my right hand. Next time I promise I'll tie it behind my back.

Last week I wrote about how we had recently hit the highwater mark of half a billion VeriSign seals displayed in a single day. One large source of that volume is VeriSign Seal-in-Search, which makes it possible for partners to display the VeriSign seal next to their own listings for sites (if those sites are secured by VeriSign, of course). The ultimate example is an online marketplace such as TheFind or...

Last year during the holiday season, we announced that we'd seen more than 250 million VeriSign seals displayed on a single day. This October we saw that number exceed 500 million in a single day.

What is the source of this tremendous growth? It's two things in combination. First, the number of seals on sites is up. More sites display the seal, and those sites on the average are higher volume. In fact, just the seals displayed on sites in October matched the number of seals on the highest shopping day of 2009.

The second factor is the...

You'll recall that in February we launched the standalone VeriSign Trust Seal, which is to say a version of the VeriSign seal that is available for purchase and use on a web site that does not use an SSL Certificate. In the intervening months we've seen enthusiastically positive responses from early adopters such as Global Village Concerns, MyEnergySolution, and The Trademark Company.

At the...

This new video goes over recent results of eyeball tracking testing to measure the attention shift when the VeriSign seal appears in your search results using our new Seal-in-Search capability. I presented this information at the recent Search Engine Strategies expo in San Francisco.

We made a big announcement today. We've added significant functionality to VeriSign SSL Certificates. VeriSign SSL users will be able to take advantage of our web site malware scanning and Seal-in-Search capabilities, just as users of the standalone VeriSign Trust Seal can.

One of the features we offer with VeriSign SSL Certificates is what we call Seal-in-Search. Simply explained, VeriSign has forged relationships with outside parties that in some way interact with consumers as they're finding the sites to visit or do business with. Each of these parties displays a version of the VeriSign seal in its interface next to its listings for the sites that are secured with VeriSign SSL Certificates and/or the VeriSign Trust Seal.

Today we have high profile relationships in two categories. The first is comparison shopping sites. VeriSign seals display alongside their sites in TheFind and...

Since the recent announcement of Symantec's intention to acquire the VeriSign Authentication business, we've caught wind of some odd and unsubstantiated rumors. I'd like to take this occasion to clear up a few of the wilder ones.

Rumor: After the acquisition there will be no more VeriSign SSL Certificates issued.
Reply: Does anybody really believe that? Would Symantec pay $1.3 billion for a business in order to immediately and unceremoniously shut it down? Seems mighty unlikely to me. And yes, Symantec will have the right to continue doing business on legacy VeriSign products for some years so that we can achieve a smooth transition.

Rumor: The familiar check mark will disappear from...

We recently announced partners TheFind and AVG putting VeriSign seals in online search results. Now we can add another to the list. Wired Magazine is now including the VeriSign seal in its shopping results accompanying product reviews, as you can see in this example.
