Symantec Super Session at VMworld 2009: Wednesday, September 2 at 10:00 AM
Of course I may be a little biased because I will be presenting, but there are a lot of reasons why you should make Symantec’s Super Session a priority during your VMworld 2009 experience
Steve Morton, Vice President of Product Marketing, and myself will present on strategies and best practice around pain points customers have faced during virtualization deployments
Steve has threatened to change the format on me, live on stage, and I am hoping this isn’t true. However, he is known to be a joker so I guess I will just have to wait and see what happens
Our goal is to share examples of how others have solved complex virtualization problems. You will see how a municipality in Florida was able to reduce a half-day virtual machine recovery to 15 minutes. This cut their backup time by 96% using Symantec solutions. Data protection and storage management continue to be the biggest pain...

Wishing you all a Happy Sys Admin Day from the Symantec Connect community team! And to not be too rigid, Happy Storage Admin, Server Admin, and DBA Day, too! July 31, 2009 marks the 10th Annual System Administrator Appreciation Day. We thought that was about the best celebration we could imagine, given that this is pretty much all we talk about day and night on the Symantec Connect site. And of course, we think it's worth more than a day--so we're giving you the whole weekend.
So we thought that in appreciation for all the last-minute, late-night projects that you've survived in the past year, we'd toss out some reward points for some good stories. Tell us about your biggest meltdown, how you saved the day on a project, or send us a photo of your wildest wiring job in the comments below. We'll give 3 of you a passle of extra reward points (probably even enough for a thinkgeek gift certificate or other glamorous Symantec Connect reward item), based on nothing other than your...

Currently SEP 11.x has an IPS detection that is hard coded for Ping of Death. My customer uses the procedure of using the Ping of Death to help test for packet loss in their environment. Their ISP also uses this process for the same testing. Excluding the host or target machines have been unsuccessful. The only test that allowed the Ping of Death to go though was by excluding the DOS detection on a router. The problem is that they have about 500 routers that this traffic could potentially go though. In stead of opening all 500+ routers to all DOS traffic it would be beneficial to be able to have a single IPS signature to exclude this one detection and still have protection over all other known DOS attacks.

Hy
I use the Veritas Storage Foundation HA 5.1 for Windows and in this system's running a print cluster.
When I add a new resource (printer) to the PrintShare, become an automatically comment/description name to the shared printer, BUT I want to use another name for it.
If I modify a key in registry, get an error message, like when I try to modify the printer properties... How can I do that? Should I doing something in the cluster?
Thanks the answers...
