My Domain server has this problem 2 weeks ago. it worked fine before.
About every one day, the DC server will automatically create user's profile under "document and setting" in server. No roaming profile was set. when we have this problem, we cannot access the shared folder in server. Restart the server solve it temporary but about 10 hours later, same problem come again.
I searched the solutions for this problem, some one suggested uninstall symantec, so I stopped all symantec service in DC server, and seems the problem fixed.
we use symantec antivirus version 10.1.5.5002.
any one know how to fix it?
Any suggestion would be appreciated..
Thanks,
Ant

Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager itself is a very huge product but still we can manager the other security products like Syamntec Mail Secuity (MSE ,Lotus, SMTP).If it would have been possible for us to login to one console and manager these products together...
My main reason for asking only these products are mainly because they are even sold under the same roof ( Symantec Multi-Teir Protection ).

How do IT managers cope with shrinking budgets and increased expectations? According to a recent Symantec survey … through automation. Seventy-one percent said the ability to automate tasks would benefit their schedule. This illustrates an important point. Many times, implementing new technologies can provide enough ROI to justify the extra expense. The trick is taking that leap by employing these technologies.
The survey, originally released during ManageFusion 2009 Las Vegas, polled IT managers about the state of their departments and found that 44 percent cited less investment in new technologies and 41 percent cited less IT staff for critical issues. If that isn’t enough, another statistic from the survey highlighted just how strapped these departments are.
According to respondents, 54 percent actively manage less than 60 percent of their IT assets. That means almost half of their assets regularly go unmanaged. As a result, it makes sense that 71 percent would...

Symantec Vision + Altiris ManageFusion: SVMF08 EMEA (Den Haag)
(EN draft version ;-)
The "ManageFusion" Europe has gone in The Hague in October 2008. Symantec, which acquired Altiris in 2007, added "Symantec Vision 2008". The latest acquisition was announced the company MessageLabs. Symantec has acquired 40 companies in 10 years, told us its CEO John W. Thompson. However, he confirmed to reduce the pace of acquisitions. There was "Veritas", "Altiris" and more recently "Transparent Logic Technologies, Inc.". (Tlogic Workflows). Symantec does not buy at random. It is wrong sometimes, as with "OnTechnology (LiveState Suite). But with "Altiris" they finally found a platform for transportation and federation for the rest.
The model of an assembly of independent tools is no longer sufficient. We are moving towards a "Business Process" which includes several solutions with a consolidated interface. For example:
The...

While in Vegas attending the last ManageFusion I actually found a little time to get out and see the sites and made a video. It includes Steve Morton attempting to juggle. To be fair it was dark. :)

User Group Challenge at ManageFusion Las Vegas '09
The fourth semi-annual User Group Challenge is just a couple hours away! Several User Groups have already promised the trophy is going home with them. So far, we've crowned a new User Group champion at each Challenge. Will another new team take the title? Or will one of our previous winners (Twin Cities - Orlando '07, Columbus - Las Vegas '08, or Toronto - Orlando '09) reclaim the top spot?
I can hardly wait to find out!
We should have our biggest turnout ever and am confident our participants will be extremely pleased with both the quality and quantity of prizes this year.
See you in the Grand Ballroom at 5:30pm!

ManageFusion Las Vegas 09 - Day 1
It's the first day of the last ManageFusion! While I sort of expected attendance to be down both at the conference and in Las Vegas, it sure doesn't seem that way to me! Sessions are full and so are the blackjack tables!
The morning keynote was entertaining and informative as usual with Steve Morton taking on the Jay Leno duties. The big announcement of course was the general availability of CMS and SMS 7! I also really enjoyed seeing a video that Bob and I did a few years ago in Orlando. Good times.
With my role in managing User Groups, I'm on the lookout for the most compelling sessions to bring to User Groups across the country and provide sort of a "mini" ManageFusion for those who were not able to attend. There is tons to choose from!
Speaking of User Groups, for all those here in Vegas be sure to attend the User Group Challenge tomorrow from 5:30pm to 7:00pm in the Grand Ballroom! We have put together the most exciting...

Check out ManageFusion in Las Vegas, March 10 - 12 to learn more about High Availability and Disaster Recovery.
The Clustering and Replication team will be giving away iPods at each session . . and don't forget to stop by the hands-on lab and the Data Center Optimization expo booth (S1).
Sessions:
High Availability and Disaster Recovery for your VMware Environment (SV B07)
Virtualization adds a layer of complexity as systems become increasingly integrated and interdependent. This causes a wider area of potential impact for failures and outages for physical and virtual environments. Attend this session to learn how Veritas Cluster Server for VMware ESX simplifies administration and provides these virtual and physical environments with a higher level of availability and comprehensive disaster recovery coverage. Protect your mission critical applications from planned and unplanned downtime by monitoring the application, virtual machine health, and dependent components.
