Basically we can't run all our Full backups on one night.  The end result is that we have about 5 policies, each one has it's full backup on a different day.  Incrementals are nightly unless a full takes priority. To this I have about 5 backup sets, each set has 2-3 servers in it. This works great, except for a few things. Exports only need to occur on a weekly basis since we aren't required to export the incrementals, BE 12 has no way to accomodate this...  I am trying to use bemcmd.exe and a SQL query to export tapes on the last job of the week, but still fighting some scripting issues which is a whole other topic!! Other issue is the logs, I end up with SO many policies and logs. I was thinking of breaking down my selection lists further, so instead of "set 1" which includes 2-3 servers, each server would have it's own selection list.... This would make the logging insane, so many logs... but it would be easy to look at metrics and find thigns in...

Hi All, I'm having problem in backup of Exchange Server 2007 SP1 using Backup Exec 12.5 SP2 agent ? the following exceptions are always reported in all of my Exchange backup :-| Backup- \\Exchange01.domain.com\ExchangeOAB  - AOFO: Initialization failure on: "\\Exchange01.domain.com\CertEnroll". Advanced Open File Option used: Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS). V-79-10000-11231 - VSS Snapshot error. Activity on a volume is preventing all volumes from being snapped. Try selecting the option  'Process logical volumes for backup, one at a time' , and then run the job again. the credentials that I use is the domain\administrator password ? can anyone here please help or explain this matter ? Thanks.

New to SSIM. I have made several changes to the correlation rules (ex. changed the Windows account lockout to excude a certain username who frequently gets locked out). However, even after making the change, I am still getting incidents based on these changes. Another examples is the Spyware Not Quarentined events. I made a change to exclude any events in which the words "google search bar" appear in the Name field as this is a common false positive for us. Again, I have seen incidents with events which should be excluded pop up after I made the changes. I have the custom (User) rule checked and the default (System) is deselected. Any ideas?

Hi,     I am trying to do the IDR restore for a Windows XP machine with a new hard drive.  I am using BE12.5, and I created the boot cd sucessfully.  I pop the disk in, went through the manual restor, restore from a remote media, enter the server name and got to the part where they ask you to submit the job from the media server.  I started the job just fine, but it would run until 95%, then the error: Access denied would pop up at the client end, and I have to cancel the job.  I went back to the media server and look at the logbook, the error is: "Completed status: Failed Final error: 0xe0008488 - Access is denied. Final error category: Security Errors "     I have tried with local admin as well as domain admin account, they all failed.  I also made sure the username didn't include the work admin in it because I read some thread and it says it could be a potential problem....

Installed SD7 successfully with default settings (seems to be the safest way to install). What is the process to change the password of admin@logicbase.com AFTER the installation? As each user who can use google can quickly find out, what's the default password.

Hi symantec community, I've been delving over PDFs and Manuals over all symantec and still cant get a straight response, even i tried to get email support (and telephone) and it redirects me to symantec connect. The problem is that i need an official response from Symantec that Backup Exec 12.5 SP2 does not support security roles, and it depends entirely on windows permissions. I know ofr fact that it is as im descrbing it, but still i need an official response for a report over an installation of Backup Exec. anything that you recommend or require i'll be glad to help! Thanks for your time!

Hi, this seems like a simple enough request but I'm having trouble figuring this out. Netbackup comes with a great graphical topology of your backup structure but I cannot view my entire layour, i.e. backup/media server + all clients. I can only see my backup servers and then whatever clients are active or failed. Any help? Thanks

Hi Group, Newbie here so excuse if my question is obvious or silly! Is it possible to span a backup (using a cascaded drive pool) with one LTO-4 drive and one LTO-2 drive? Or would it be better practice to split my backup into 2 jobs, sending one to each drive?  Thanks in advance for any advice offered. Meg

Hello, I need to find the pre-boot automation x64 Linux OS that was once available from Altiris at the following URL. http://www.altiris.com/Download.aspx The URL is obviously no longer valid, and I did go to the Symantec FTP site, but could not find any pre-boot OS files. Anyone know where this can be found? Thanks -John

Hello all, I have just set up a new Failover cluster and wanted to install SFW 'just' for mirroring SAN partitions (meaning: no Campus cluster or VCS). This should be possible, I think, but the solutions guide seems to miss this point... Well, I am new to Veritas SFW. Can someone give me a hint? Best regards, Peter.

This happens when we try and copy policy from a GROUP with more than 1000 clients.... If we click copy Group Policy from a Group with only a handful of clients the console does not crash....

Just want to know your suggestion. One of our client currently running a BEWS 11D build 7170. Box for Active Directory changed from Windows 2003 to Windows 2008. As we re-install the agent on the said server that we have migrated. We never had a normal or successful backup. Job log says that the connection to target system has been lost. Most probably the problem is with the version of Remote Agent installed in Windows 2008 server which is the 11D. Is upgrading the best option to do? We are planning that by the end of the year, but as of the moment is there a way to have a successful job with this kind of setup? tnx

Proactive threat Protection Needs more improvments as it is doing  almost nothing. It should detect on  behaviour of a file.Currently symantec is only depending upon signatures. Now irus writers are easily corrupting SEP and it can't even save itself. SEP is failing to save itself also. A small program enters and easily destroys sep in a system. symantec should include some technology to protect all its files which are created during installation.

Hello, I would like to customize the SQL Connection Dialog to default to SQL Authentication.  If it's possible, I'd like to remove the two Database Authentication radio buttons and always set the property to SQL.  If it's not possible then I'd like to pre-select SQL Authentication and disable the radio buttons.   I tried this and it didn't work (on the "Next>" button event):   Event: [WiseSqlParam]    ---- no change Argument: WiseSqlServerName|"SQL"|WiseSqlUser|WiseSqlPass|WISE_SQL_CONN_STR  - trying to replace the WiseSqlAuth property with "SQL" Condition: 1 --- no change When I click the "Next>" button, it's causing an error because I must have the syntax wrong or something simple.  How would I change the argument?I'm new to Wise.  Thanks.
