trying to get the above to be recognized as a robotic library, but with no sucess. I've got it working as a stand-alone, but that's not what I need. 2-part qustion. 1. Is this autoloader compatible with 8.6? 2. How can I get BE 8.6 to recongize it as a robotic library? Thanks in advance!

Should I say I hit a milestone today? I all cases I have to say that my migration from VMWare to Virtual Box Open Source Edition was a real success, and I can't see myself moving back away from Virtual Box for a good while.   It didn't start so well when upgrading my main test computer (AMD quad core 64-bit, 8GB RAM, 1TB disk) from Ubuntu 9.04 to Ubuntu 9.10 causes a failure in one of my 250GB sata drives. After a couple of attempts to repair Ubuntu 9.04 or install Ubuntu 9.10 from USB I resorted to install the operating system on another drive, considering that the problem had to come from the disk partition I was installing the OS onto.   This was effectively the case, as installing on another disk and partition allowed me to run Ubuntu without too much problem (apart from a disk boot order setting in BIOS that jumped a couple of times getting me to a grub dead-end).   But then installing VMWare Server 2.0, which I used for the last year, worked out with a few...

We have several sbs2008 domains with endpoint protect manager and clients installed. However the clients do not appear in the manager and they do not update. Is this a common problem / does anyone know of a fix for this?

Hi I have a strict network Policy to follow, that all Network devices are on SNMP v3. After being told Altiris 7 would support this. I find that it only supports V1 and V2. Which for one supprises me as V3 has been the industry standard for years. So my question is, When will Altiris support SNMP v3. Or should i knock it on the head and look for another solution. Cheers

I am using Endpoint Protection 11.05. Was wondering if it is possible to mangage both 11.05 and 11.04? I have both packages setup for distribution, whoever it installs 11.05 even though I chose to push 11.04. I have tested this by installing as an unmanaged with the same install files.

Hi, I've managed a successful install, except for one of the last stages of the Service Desk configuration. The step failed with the following error log, however i suspect it to be a IIS related issue or maybe i've typed in the wrong syntax when setting up (i've followed the installation guide examples quite accurately) I've also noticed that the 'Ticker' isnt displayed on my home pages. I've also shown the error i get in Event Viewer which seems to suggest 'target machine actively refused' If you can point me in the right direction, much appreciated. Saludos cordiales, Eduardo Rodriguez. Montevideo - Uruguay

Sharing an experience and looking to validate some of the challenges vPro demonstration might present in markets outside of North America - especially if the original demonstration environment was created in North America.   A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to travel to Germany for a training event.   The equipment for the training event was sourced locally in Germany.   The result was 13 systems.  (For those that are superstitious – you might quickly identify that this will get interesting).     Among those 13 systems, there were 4 different OEMs, 3 different keyboard layouts (US, UK, German), 3 different power connectors, 2 generations of Intel AMT (2.6 and 4.x), 3 different versions of Windows (XP, Vista, and Win7), 2 different versions of VMware workstation, and a single VMware workstation image created in North America.   Very little standardization.   A perfect recipe for disaster.    This was...

Currently we have a Central Admin server (CAS) that manages 8 other media servers, each at remote locations in a WAN environment.  All of the servers are running BEWS 10d w/ Service Pack 4.  We have another media server at a 9th office that runs 12.5.  Questions: 1) Is it possible to pull this into the 10d Central Admin server? 2) If that is not possible, and we instead choose to upgrade the CAS, will the CAS with 12.5 continue to manage the 10d media servers so we can upgrade them in phases? Thanks.

We have Windows 2000 SP4  and Outlook 2003 SP2 with the Enterprise Vault Add-in. We also have PGP_Desktop installed (with email functionality disabled). Some users are reporting that their draft emails are automatically sent...it only seems to happen with E-Store items... The below is the following steps I take to replicate the sending of drafts:   • Save two e-mails in the Drafts folder • Turn Outlook offline • Reply to a estored e-mail • Turn Outlook back online (The estored e-mail will stay in Drafts) • Reply to another estored e-mail All drafts will then send, including the ones saved addressed to myself.  (PGP state that they are not touching the email, merely recording it was sent/received). Any ideas anyone?  Is this a known issue?

Support for Mac OS X above version 10.5.5 has been broken since December 2008 (ALMOST ONE YEAR AGO when the 10.5.6 update was released) and publicized in every SCL release. Is BackupExec 2010 going to change this? I inherited a brand new  Xserve (with ~4TB of data on it) running at ver. 10.5.7: officially my BackupExec 12.5 SP2 does NOT support it. I can successfully install/reinstall the agent, but can't authenticate the media server to it: access denied errors. To my shock (and I quote Apple enterprise support) downgrading (ie reinstalling) the server to a lower rev than what purchased at is NOT possible (tried it anyway) I'd like to know when is Symantec going to address this, it's been almost a year of NO SUPPORT!

Preface: Ghost was not designed to work with solid state drives. The recommendations below may or may not work in a given environment, though they have been tested and verified on at least some machines. Please not that before trying this in a production environment, you should try this in a test environment so as to not risk data loss. Officially, Ghost does not support solid state drives. I have verified that these steps worked on Dell Latitude E4200 machines: 1. Take the image with these command line switches: -FNI -FFX -NOIDE -NOUSB 2. Restore the image with these command line switches: -FNI -FFX -NOIDE -NOUSB -NTEXACT This  has been verified to work. This has only been tested with the same model of machine, so it is not expected that this would work to deploy to different models. I would expect that you could restore a solid state image to an IDE/SATA drive,but not the other way around. Assuming this is tested and does work, I would advise that deployment...

Hello Everyone, Could you help with an EV-Domino related query? We're in the process of a Domino Domain migration to a new R8.5 domain, so we're going to need to implement another EV Domino Gateway for the newly added Domino Domain. However, its a bit of a pain that we have to add another server only to run the EVDG. In the Compatibility Guides it states that the EVDG should not be run on a mail server in a production environment, which I'd imagine is because of performance concerns. So, what about this as a possible solution: - We implement a two node Domino cluster in the new domain - One node is used as the mail server, and the other has the EVDG component installed. That way, the second node has the additional purpose of being a backup for our primary domino server. Would this be a supported solution? Thanks for any advice you can offer. Phil.

Just installed SEP 11.0.5 onto Windows Server 2008 Std x64 w/ SP2. All went well with the install and all the recommended IIS components were installed. When you go to open the SEPM console where you usually see th status in the home screen nothing is displayed other than text. Same goes for montiors section. You can cofigured policies, groups etc just fine. Just nothing displaying. I've checked the following: IE ESC = Off for all users IE settings set to as low as it gets IIS seems to be fine. Any ideas?

1.  Customer has Windows 2008 server running BackupExec 12.5 (trial), domino agent.  Domino on this server is for Traveler (pda sync). 2.  Customer has Novell Linux server running primary notes/domino database. 3.  Have installed the linux agent on the Novell linux server and can currently back it up. 4.  Cannot see the notes database on the Novell Linux server, can see the database on the Novell server. Question: 1.  Can the Lotus Notes/Domino agent be installed on a Novell Linux server? 2.  Is it the same agent that installs on the Windows server and how do I do it with the trial version.  Can't find it to download. 3.  Any help would be grateful.  Don't want to have my customer purchase the software and it not work.

We are running Back up exec server edition 12 on a Win Server2003 R2  on a very old  server. I am planning a server upgrade and have a few questions. I purchased one good new server (Dell R710).   Is there any compatibility issues that I should be aware of? Will Back up Exec 12 run on Server 2008 64 bit or would Server2008 R1 or Server 2003 R2 be better?   Will Microsoft Hyper V on Server 2008 R2 cause issues? Do you have a migration plan for me to follow?     I run Symantec 11.0.4 End Point Protection on server and desktops.  Any issues with this program? Any program compatibility issues I need to be aware of?  Worried!    Julie Winters VP of Information Technology Crow River Bank

Dear Sir/Madam,   We bought 15 HP T5540 Terminals last month. These terminals all run Windows CE 6.0. The problem is that when we put the terminal on,  it register’s itself on the Altiris Deployment Server, (which we reinstalled with DP6.9 SP3). The Deployment server then upgrades the Altiris Agent to version 6.9.430, and after that I cannot manage it anymore.   The strange thing is that when I remove the Agent installer from the Deployment server and reimage the Thin Client so it gets it’s default CE installation (Latest image from HP.com website) and default agent (6.9.274 I believe) it runs fine and I’m able to send it reboot requests etc. (the Deployment server however keeps creating an Agent update task which cannot run because I moved the source files). After I move back the source files the Agent get’s updated and I cannot manage it anymore. Then I tried a terminal with CE 5.0, this is a T5530 because the T5540 doesn’t...

My client purchased Symantec Endpoint Small Business suite. Thus all client workstation have the Symantec backup client. They would now like to both backup their Server and additionally have a central management backup console to manage backups within their environment. Please indicate what are the licenses needed to backup the server and also to have a central backup console to manage all backup clients on the network. Regards, Shane Barnes

I am having a problem connecting to the local server in BE 8.6 while the remote agent service is running... We are running BE 12.5 on a Win 2008 box in our HQs. (machine 1) We pushed the remote agent onto a remote win 2000 Server box and have had no issue. (machine 2) We currently would like to be able to back up locally (with the BE 8.6 which is loaded on the server) While the remote agent (service) is running on the machine 2, we have tried to schedule a job in BE 8.6 Trying to attach the media server, we "error out". "can not connect to media server press F5".... With the remote agent (service) not running it connects fine and we have no issue (beside we would like to be able to back up certain sensative files remotely. to machine 1. Is there a way with our current scheme to be able to back up both locally as well as remotely?
