Console Error Unexpected server error. 0x10010000
I get the above error whenever I try to do pretty much anything on both my SEPM systems. I have rebooted both and have also followed a KB article about reconfiguring the Manager. Howerver, nothing is working. We are being slammed by a trojan of some kind today that has taken over pretty much every XP box and a lot of my Windows 2003 boxes. So far Vista and Windows 7 have not been touched.
I need to configure a different type of scan but can't!!!!

Hi,
I'm currently running one EV 8.0 SP2 server to archive Exchange mailboxes. I want to deploy a second EV server in the same site to start archiving our file server (to distribute the work load between the two servers). Can someone tell me (or point me to any documentation) on how to add another EV server to the existing site? Is it as simple as installing EV on the second server, running through the Configuraton Wizard to add it to the site, then configuring file system archiving? Or are there more steps involved? Thanks in advance....

I have 3 domain controllers in 3 different offices, connected via WAN links. The users share in the other 2 office replilcates to a share on my local server using dfs for backup purposes. I have selected the local share (not the DFS Root directory) but none of the user folders or files are backed up to tape. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Our Altiris Helpdesk was working fine until the morning of October 12th when it stopped processing emails. The emails started stacking up in the Exchange inbox instead of being processed by Altiris. We see the following error in the Notification Server log:
Log File Name: D:\Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\Logs\a.log
Priority: 1
Date: 11/20/2009 8:25:05 AM
Tick Count: 181226375
Host Name: Svr121
Process: w3wp.exe (8136)
Thread ID: 5124
Module: AltirisNativeHelper.dll
Source: AlertManager.ProcessInboxes
Description: Inbox processing exception: An unexpected error has occurred. NO The requested message could not be converted to an RFC-822 compatible format.
Any clues what might be at the root of this issue? Clearly something changed, but no one is admitting to purposefully changing anything.

Hi,
We are considering Backup exec, we are currently running Redhat 3, 4 and 5. How stable has this been??
Is major issues with performance, reliability or any other quirkyness???

We currently upgraded from backup exec 11d to backup exec 12.5 sp3. Applied all patches updates, etc and pushed out the latest remote backup agent to all servers being backed up,
another words, we thought everything was the same except the version, same backup jobs, same files to be backed up, but...
we noticed a signaficantly reduced backup speed to tape to complete the 2 night jobs we run. My HP LTO2 drive was getting 750-800 mb/min and my HP LTO3 drive was getting 1100-1150 mb/min
for their respective jobs. After the upgrade, my LTO2 is getting 550-575 mb/min and my LTO3 is getting 850-875 mb/min.??
I saw a similar post about upgrading the drivers for the tape drives to symantec drivers, so we did that with no affect on the speed.
I've heard 12.5 sp3 is faster than 11d, not slower, everything else is EXACTLY the same, we're lost on this one.
media server is also the domain controller - windows 2003 32bit server R2, backup up windows 32 bit and 64 bit R2 servers?
We are...

Hi all,
our situation is the following: we have EV8 sp2 running with 2 different vault stores, one for exchange 2007 archiving and the other for file system archiving. Both vault stores are in the same vault store group with sharing level enabled within the entire group.
We are archiving exchange journaling in the same vault store used for user mailbox archiving.
Now we'd like to create a new vault store within the group and use it for journaling archiving, using more partitions mounted via network share for automatic rollover. Within this partinion we won't enable collactions.
When every year the partion rollover will occour we want to backup the closed partition to tape and the erase data from disk. In case we need to search in journaling archive for data not available on disk we can schedule a manual restore.
Is it possible to do that? How does EV works when a closed partition is currently defined and indexed but data has been removed from disk?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Andrea...

Issue -
have a second policy set up to archive all mail for users in a particular OU-
all looks okay - appears on Provisoning report
When checking policies applied to users in the particular OU- that looks all okay ( display policies assigned to mailboxes feature)
Have tried applying the policy to the OU - have also tried using LDAP - on both occassion all looks as though it will work - but does not
If I manually archive - all works okay
The order of the policies looks fine - Archive All assigned to particular OU BEFORE ordinary archive assigned to Organization.
Are there any issues with moving a mail box from one policy to another policy ?
Any ideas - - been going on for years - currently running Entreprise vault Version: 8.0.2.1693
No error in event log - nothing seems amiss - just the specific mail box never seems to pick the assigned policy - though carries on applying the ordinary 30 day archive.
Our main archive policy - 30 days - is applied at Organization level - Of...

Hi,
So, we have our LU policy, specifiying multple GUP's (by name), this policy is linked to the generic desktop group - cxlients are currently on 3 different sites.
We have another test office - I have added the nominated GUP to the list of servernames on Rule 1.
I then rolled out the SEP client.
Since doing so, none of the clients have updated their defs (been a week now) - my guess is its trying to get from GUP and can't, as when we roll clients out to sites with no GUPs (for testing) they get their update from SEPM fairly quickly and stay up to date.
What should I check? Any ideas? Read it may work better putting an IP address isntead of name, but any tools I can use?
Thanks

Hi,
I'm facing problems with installing V10.0.2 on one client with XP
in the installation progress when modifying the registry, the following error comes up
Error 1402. Could not open key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\INTEL\LANDesk\VirusProtect6\CurrentVersion\Snap-In\LotusNotes.
Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personell.
i've checked the registry key, and the lotus notes key does not exist
can I export the key out of the registry of a similar client?
or do I need to create it manually - and if so, can you give me the key details
thanks for the support

Hi All,
I'd like to know if this is possible to do or not ?
I've got several partitions, namely OS 50 GB, Database 500 GB and Log 150 GB
not all of them is full, the total data usage is around 95 GB and I'd like to restore it into single partitions of 350 GB new RAID-1 LUN, How can i do this ?
since each partitions is saved into each own file and one file can only have one single destination ?
Thanks.

I upgraded a Small Business Server 2008 server to Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition 12 MR1. Everything upgraded fine from 12.0 on the server and clients. However Endpoint Protection Center is reporting all clients disabled th even though they're not. I don't have Network Threat Protection installed on the clients though and I haven't prior to MR1 without issue. When I click on the reported number of clients (7) the report shows "Disabled(Network Threat Protection is off)" for all the clients.

The performance slider in Progress and Performance currently is set to Fast by default. We have overnight backup job running & we would like to set this slider to slow, but the Backup Exec currently is not letting this to happen. May i request, to allow us to set thiswhen setting a backup job??

I have 14 DSSU and only 6 tape drives. It would be nice to be able to run 3 DSSU simultaneously to a single tape drive. This issue is that I can not stream enough data from a single DSSU fast enough to maximize the capasity throughput of a single LTO3 tape drive.

I have a storage lifecycle policy with 2 storage destinations:
Backup - StorageUnit1 - Fixed Retention - 2 Months
Duplication - StorageUnit2 - Fixed Retention - 2 months
We plan to use this SLP to write images to a primary disk storage unit, then duplicate those images to a secondary storage unit offsite. The goal is to hold those images on disk for 2 months. My policy is tied to this SLP on the attributes tab of the change policy screen, however my schedules show a retention of 2 weeks (level 1). I am not able to change the 2 week retention because that part is greyed out on the change schedule screen.
My question is which retention will win out? The 2 months defined by my SLP or the unmodifiable 2 week retention that shows up when viewing my schedules?
Thanks,
Layne

I Hope someone can help me.
I have a dell Poweredge server t300
Running Windows 2008 Server
12.5 Symantec Backup Exec.
This is also a new install on a new machine.
I can access the drive in renaming the tape, erasing the tape, retensioning the tape, but when I go to write to the tape I get errors. There is a service that I had to turn on in the server called Voltume Shadow Copy Service, it was off, I started the service and I recieved the same error, I put the service in Automatic and restarted the server from a shutdown, after reboot I checked the Volume Shadow copy Service to see if it was started and it was. I tried to run the backup again and I got the same error, so far no online text has been able to resolve my Problem. basicaly my error is this : e000fec9 - A failure occurred accessing the Writer metadata.

I know this is a noob question. I have searched the forums, but have not found anything exactly to my liking and would appreciate a few tips.
Currently, I have the following Logical drive letters on our Win2k3 File Server:
C: = Raid 5 internal array and primary storage
D:, E: optical drives
K: External drive
L: External drive
M: External drive
I have added a new Raid 5 array into the server and am going to make it Logical drive letter K:, and therefore am going to "bump up" the current K-M to the next highest letter, and make my new Raid 5 Logical drive K: I know, I know, this is creating more work - I could make the new letter N:, but my boss does't it want it that way :)
My noob questions are:
How will backup exec react when I change the logical drive letters? Will it crash out in any way until I get the jobs modified to reflect the logical drive lettering change?
In other words, the file selections on my jobs will no longer be valid....
