Hi,
I am trying to find a vcs agent for websphere 6.1 app server for vcs 4.1 running on RHEL 5.1. All I can find are packages and rpms for was5 and I can't even see any references to an agent for was6.x. Does any one know if they exist and if so where can I download them.
Cheers

The following download is provided with permision from author Peter Bousfield.
How to change the group id on a veritas Disk Group
The script below (also attached as .txt file) from creator Peter Bousfield s used to change the diskids and dgid of a given diskgroup. You will want to do this after taking a BCV copy to ensure that there are not id conflicts. Note diskgroup must be already imported (to get disk group info), and must be able to be deported (ie. volumes not in use, no file systems mounted).

Dynamic Storage Tiering (DST) policies provide extensive controls to determine on which tier to create a file, and when/why it should move to a different tier. This sample file, in contrast, implements perhaps the simplest DST policy. It creates new files on Tier 1 (unless Tier 1 is full, in which case it creates new files on Tier 2); and it relocates files on Tier 1 whose atime is >30 days to Tier 2. In this way it provides a starting point for novice DST users.
This policy is written for a VxFS file system version 5.0 or higher, disklayout 7 or higher, consisting of two volumes in a volume set:
A Tier 1 volume, with the volume tag vxfs.placement_class.tier1
A Tier 2 volume, with the volume tag vxfs.placement_class.tier2
To tag a volume:
# vxassist -g diskgroup settag volumename tagname=vxfs.placement_class.tier1
To apply this policy to a given file system, see the fsppadm man page -- for example:

The SVS User Logon Hook was something we released as part of the SVS 2.1 Beta several years ago and allows you to define which layers are active for which users at startup. With SWV 6.1 the SVS User Logon Hook is no longer supported because we’ve changed when the driver loads and how SWV deals with Winlog on so some aspects may not function.
If you use the SVS User Logon Hook with any version of Virtualization after SVS 2.1 you are doing so at your own risk.
Requirements
Client
SVS 2.X
Windows XP SP2
Sorry, no Vista support
VSA if Importing
Admin
SVS 2.X
SVS User Admin requires .NET 2.0 or higher to run
Windows XP SP2
Sorry, no Vista support
VSA of all layers that will be used
Here’s a guide to using the SVS User Logon Hook.

Our second meeting went very well. It was great to see returning faces as well as new faces at Adesa in Carmel!
19 people attended from 14 different orginizations around the Indianapolis area!
Phil Weingart gave a quick overview of the backup environment at Adesa, touching on design challenges and future projects. We also had two very successful breakout sessions discussing Disaster Recovery and VCB Implementation.
Our next meeting is scheduled for December 8th. Stay tuned for details on time and location!
Attached are the meeting minutes, a copy of Phil's presentation, a write up on Sallie Mae's VCB Implementation, and a VCB Proxy Installation slide show.

This custom inventory is in NS7 format. It retrieves Add/Remove Programs data from both the 32 and 64-bit Windows registry locations. It does NOT filter out any results whatsoever. Optionally, it has commented vbscript statements to display the results on-screen in case a user wants to view the results prior to loading them to the NS database. (In this case, please comment out the line that reads: "nse.SendQueued".)
This script requires the creation of a custom inventory data class on the NS server, as explained elsewhere on Connect.

This tool is an add on to an article I wrote previously. Every time I setup a patch task that went corporate wide, I had to notify all managers of each department ahead of time. Not only that, but I had to notify them of exactly which machines were getting hit and when. First few times, no problem. But it soon became a chore to go into 6 different consoles, to pull up phase collections, and then to copy and paste each phase, on each server to one spreadsheet.
That time sink started adding up. I needed a way to click a script and have an Excel spreadsheet, separated by sheets, labeled by day that the phase is to be deployed. This is the result.
In the script, replace the following with your server list:
svrName(0) = "servername1"
svrName(1) = "servername2"
Also, replace the following lines with the guids of your phase collections:
phaseGuid(0) = "6bff8864-10ef-492f-8201-f139fbfedf38"
phaseGuid(1) = "589f7865-454d-4a9a-bd59-...

I've been wanting to write something like this for a long time. I actually started writing it 2 days ago, but laid it down to build another tool.
This is a system tray app that is used to return the status of any of your current SWD tasks. You can set the NS server and it will grab any SWD task of the created by the current ID running the application.
Right click to bring up the server name dialog
Enter the servername and click OK
Right click again and click Update Menu
Expand your task and click on its guid to bring up the data in a new window. Copy and paste right into a spreadsheet.
Attached is the tool and the source :)

#4 down! 26 more to go. This is getting fun actually.
This script will query an NS using the ExecuteDatabaseQuery method and grab every subnet known to Inventory Solution. It then takes each subnet and creates a dynamic collection on the server under a folder you specify. This is using the CreateCollection method.
Note, the subnets are coming from inventory data, not from defined subnets. It can be adapted easily for creating collections based on defined subnets. Either way, It's a good way to keep your NS resources clean and organized.

OK first app down with 63 minutes to spare!(10:57 EST) Phew!
This app allows you to quickly add users one at a time or in batch to any security role. It supports multiple NS's by reading a server list from a text file.
I've included a brief readme.txt on usage in the zip. Also attached is the source code and project files.
See the accompanying blog entry for more details on writing the app.

We are in the process of getting EMS for our Wise Package Studio 7 sp3. We were wondering if anyone had some documentation on guidelines for configuring the Software Manager/Software Repository/Package Distribution. Or if anyone had any documentation on this they would be willing to share.
Any and all help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Am I missing something?
When I download and uncompress Windows_Vista_and_Win_2008_Svr_v4.4.11_MSVista_MSWIN2k8Svr_EN.zip from http://fileconnect.symantec.com; all I see is MSVISTA.zip, MSVISTA.zip.md5 and SEC_for_MS-Vista_44.pdf
Where's the Win2008 Svr?

Hey Guys,
Still using human resources to do netbackup update ?
Just look @ NetBackup Live update. Below mentioned document wil help you to do.
Configure the Live Update Server as per below document.
http://support.veritas.com/docs/317256
While following that Document, Step 10 makes you to install Liveupdate agent on each client manually. This can be automated to do for more clients.
Here are some key names used in this Steps:
Clientliveinstaller - Server used to install Live update agent on clients
LIVEUPSERVER - Server which is holding Live Update files and doing live update operation.
1. Download and Extract the Attachment to any of the "Clientliveinstaller".
2. Share that "LiveUpdate" folder with Everyone Full Control; do this in both Share and Security Permissions.
3. Append the server name which requires Live update agent installation to "SERVERS.TXT".
4. Edit below Line in "LU_Install" with your "LIVEUPSERVER" share.

I'm trying to get the M-number so i can download my BackupExec 12.5-installation from fileconnect.symantec.com, however it's just impossible to understand what hoops you want me to jump through to get that number.
I go to licensing.symantec.com, i login with my account and i try to find some place where i can register by using the license key, which is the only thing i have in my package.
The package arrived in the post today, i have a white envelope that says "symantec backup exec 12.5 small business server premium edition, enterprise system builder edition". The back of it has a barcode with no useful information, inside is a white envelope with three cds and two "important license key information"-papers with three license-key stickers on each. That's all i have.
For me to download the actual installation package onto the server, which is some distance from me so i can't just drive over there, i NEED a m-something number for fileconnect, but unless i can...

Have you heard of Storage Foundation's Dynamic Storage Tiering (DST) feature, but are not sure of the benefits it can provide you? Install the free, easy-to-use DST Analyzer tool in your environment as you evaluate if Dynamic Storage Tiering is right for you, and to answer questions about cost savings that would result from file system consolidation.
The DST Analyzer operates in two stages:
In the first stage, it collects ownership, file size, and age information from any UNIX file system — Veritas Storage Foundation doesn’t have to be present at all.
In the second stage, the Analyzer examines the data against user- specified storage costs and placement policies to determine the storage utilization and cost under different DST policy scenarios. Data from multiple file systems can be combined to answer questions about cost savings that would result from file system consolidation.
Try out this small, easy-to-use tool in your environment as you evaluate if DST is right for...
