How to turn off replication between two sites?
I want to reinstall my replication site again so how to turn off replication before uninstalling it.

I googled it but really didn't see any comparison list for either. Can someone tell me what the differences are between Wise Package Studio Pro version 5 and version 8 ?

My Domain server has this problem 2 weeks ago. it worked fine before.
About every one day, the DC server will automatically create user's profile under "document and setting" in server. No roaming profile was set. when we have this problem, we cannot access the shared folder in server. Restart the server solve it temporary but about 10 hours later, same problem come again.
I searched the solutions for this problem, some one suggested uninstall symantec, so I stopped all symantec service in DC server, and seems the problem fixed.
we use symantec antivirus version 10.1.5.5002.
any one know how to fix it?
Any suggestion would be appreciated..

New to SSIM. I have made several changes to the correlation rules (ex. changed the Windows account lockout to excude a certain username who frequently gets locked out). However, even after making the change, I am still getting incidents based on these changes. Another examples is the Spyware Not Quarentined events. I made a change to exclude any events in which the words "google search bar" appear in the Name field as this is a common false positive for us. Again, I have seen incidents with events which should be excluded pop up after I made the changes. I have the custom (User) rule checked and the default (System) is deselected. Any ideas?

Antivirus client should never allow to mark a message as "Sent" by user EMail client BEFORE EMailScanner sucessfully sent it.

Is scanning speed in SEP11RU5 faster then sep11mr4mp2 ?
Scanning of 8GB of data takes more than 90 minutes in sep11mr4mp2 .

replication between two sites is incremental or copies the whole database everytime replication happens.

I created an addition site as replication partner to my main site in SEP. but when I open the SEPM console on the addition site top three links don't work and gives an error as unable to communicate with the reporting component.
what could be the problem other tabs are working fine.
OS:- Windows2k3sp2
SEPM ver- SEP11RU5
RAM-2GB
Server-XEON dual processor server

Hi symantec community,
I've been delving over PDFs and Manuals over all symantec and still cant get a straight response, even i tried to get email support (and telephone) and it redirects me to symantec connect.
The problem is that i need an official response from Symantec that Backup Exec 12.5 SP2 does not support security roles, and it depends entirely on windows permissions.
I know ofr fact that it is as im descrbing it, but still i need an official response for a report over an installation of Backup Exec.
anything that you recommend or require i'll be glad to help!

Hello,
Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager needs to have more Functionality and Features in regards to Group Update Provider.
Today, Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager RU5 have added good Functionality.
Check the Following KB's
1) New features and functionality in Symantec Endpoint Protection Release Update 5 (SEP RU 5) Group Update Provider (GUP)

AVG has a nifty thing called LinkScanner (see: http://www.linkscanner.avg.com/). Most of the infected machines that I have to work with recently have gotten infected via the web. Does SEPSBE 12 have this type of funtionality built in or available as a addon?

In SWV 6.1 there is a feature called "Auto Run From Layer". It would be nice to have a similar global feature "Auto Run From Base" that defines processes that should never run from a layer or at least act as if they were started from the base.
An Example: right now when a user receives a mail (using virtualized mail software) containing a url to an installer and the user clicks this link, iexplorer.exe and ultimately even the installer when immediately run will run from this virtual layer. In many cases it is not the desired outcome to have this software installed in (the writable sublayer of) the layer.
"Auto Run from Base" would provide a way to deal with this problem.

With VMWare on the rise, I've been backing up RDM and VMFS volumes with FULL backups only. Mainly, I come in AFTER the volume on our filers has taken a snapshot of the VMWare clusters We have a script (for NBU) that will append/add the list of volumes to our policy (Backup Selection List). My concern is that our LTO tapes are being "eaten" up by these backups because we do complete FULL backups daily. Whereas, when these virtual machines/servers were once physical machines, which ALLOWED me to take INCREMENTAL backups, resulting in fewer tapes utilized. We're finding ourselves scrounging to look for scratches, weekly (sometimes daily). Ultimately I want to stay with tapes.
My questions are:
What is your recommendation (best-in-class) approach to relieve...

I need to know what are the advantage if I make the installation of this new package. If there are any issues reported. Any thing find as relevant to do the succesful deployment of this package.
I have 550 clients with Windows XP and 100 with windows Vista.

Hello All,
I have been facing a lot of trouble with the EV Search archive issues.
Following is the list of the ones encountered till now: -
1. Search not working properly:
- Date range search is not getting all the mails in that range. (Example: In my mail box if there are 6 archived mails on Date 15/11/08 , a search from 15/11/08 to 15/11/08 gets only three mails.
- Mails out of range is also retrieved. (Example: If search from and to date is 10/11/08 to 11/11/08, mails of 12/11/08 are also retrieved)

2. Multiple copies of the mails are being restored:
When a single mail from vault is restored to mail box, multiple copies of the same mail are restored (Example: I restored a specific archived mail of 28/08/08 and now there are six copies of the same mail and same date restored in my mail box)

Hi,
When the PST locator task is run does it firsly locate all machines in active directory before it starts scanning for pst's. I have it configured to scan active directory and to scan the computer registry. So far its built up a list of machines but no pst locations yet. Do I just need to be more patient? No errors are been reported in the event log.
Oh an why is it recommeded that the evault service account is not a domain admin?

Hi All,
I'm pretty open about this. As we wait for Version 7 of the Asset Management Solution, I was wondering if there is ANY way to just add a date to a PC resource, i.e another field in the a table or something..somewhere..anything??
I'm trying to think of a simple way to do this.
At the moment we can grab a good list containing PC names, service tags, model/brand - if i can somehow put a date to that and have the report bring it out..thats all I really need.
Interested to hear thoughts/suggestions

Has anyone had any experiences with BESR 8.5 or better quiescing Hyper-V drives via VSS? Is it possible for BESR to quiesce the VHD of a virtual machine in Hyper-V much in the way that DPM does and allow a backup of the VM to be made without shutting it down?

how can i scheduled atuomated fowarding events from a ssim to another's; for example, if i configurated the time range that the ssim would forwarding events to another ssim on schedule, it looks like a schedule liveupdate or sending reports.

I'm attempting to do aVMware file/folder restore of some backups that I had performed. I'm attempting to do a 2 stage restore, where I restore the data to a server with the netbackup client installed on it and then copy the files over to the appropriate vm.

I would like job histories to be presented in a tabular format, rather than hierarchical. E.g.
server1\c$ 4.1GB backed up in 201,431 files 4.0GB verified in 201,430 files Started 11:01pm Finished 11:30pm etc, etc
server1\e$ 45GB backed up in 201,431 files 45GB verified in 201,430 files Started 11:30pm Finished 01:30am etc, etc
server2\c$ 5.1GB backed up in 201,431 files 5.0GB verified in 201,430 files Started 01:30am Finished 01:57ametc, etc
server2\e$ 4.1GB backed up in 201,431 files 4.0GB verified in 201,430 files Started 01:57am Finished 02:30am etc, etc
Total 58.3GB etc, etc, etc.
The current histories need to be expanded and expanded and expanded to find out what happened, until you can't see where you are on the page anymore. Tabular format lets you easily see what has happened. It could still contain hyperlinks to look at errors, etc.
This is the report I'd like...
