I've been successfully running a ghost cast server for about 2 years now without a hicup. I use the following setup:

Live update should get installed along with the Remote Agent.
Most of the time pushing updates on the remote server is pain.
If the updates could be directly downloaded on the remote server then updating the remote agents will be hasle free.
